Hearing a Rumor that Verizon Contractors working for TechnoComp were laid off today. Is this true?

The good news is they let go onshore contractors to be replaced by cheaper existing resources from Verizon India. Might as well start by not backfilling the onshore contractors that have reached 4160 status. The bad news is the next budget cuts will eliminate onshore employees. Since we gave out 110% STI awards, the money is needed to build out 5G.
Working at Verizon now is TOXIC and a Very Negative place to work. They did you a Favor.
Who is he ? An sMts? They have town Halls now
Sudarsan just confirmed in a Townhall meeting. 1000 onshore Contractors were let go. To be replaced by VZ India.
This is a lie, disregard. 140 had no layoffs. Typical associate gossip.
Update. Number is now over 500 Laid Off in the past month. Anticipate the number to go higher.
To @2kde+13hpSNix
IT Contractors for Wireless are not Union employees. Labor Laws are non Existent. In Heinsight, Union employees are treated better.
Why some ED are paying team dinner with cash ?
@2kde+13hpSNix, that’s misdirection at its finest.
What pray tell does union guaranteed negotiated protection assurances have to do with those poor individuals who toiled as contract laborers?
Your Union will protect you right? Go picket and demand wireless wires.
Saw many Tears in Piscataway this week. It was Horrible to watch. Grown Men were Crying their Eyes out.....
TechnoComp was a SOW Contractor and would allow people to stay at VZW beyond 30 months.
T&M can not go beyond 30 months. Some teams are misusing policies and getting back same contracters by using 3rd party vendors like Infovision.
There were atleast a few hundred IT contractors let go with zero notice on 1/20.
What is TechnoComp? Never heard of it and I'm in IT.
While I can feel empathy for those let go, being a contractor, it's kind of expected at some point. The whole reason for hiring contractors is for a more flexible workforce. I do agree they should be given more notice. I was also under the impression that you could only contract for a maximum of 3 years before you had to go and then you could not be retained again for at least 6 months. So how do you get 10 years as a contractor?
Face it, IT is just mismanaged any way you slice it. Areas that were outsourced to Infosys are still badly struggling over a year later.
Rumor has it. Gross Budget Mismanagement of $150 Million Dollars. (AWS Bill ???? ) Way to go IT Leadership! Contractors that were here up to 10 years were given 2 days notice of their last day. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!
IT SVP from consumer group has shown a clear bias towards InfoVision as rest of the vendors are cut-off. Definitely something fishy going on here.
@1emp+13hpSNix literally no one cares about the union but union people
If it were union employees, there would be cheers here. Admit it Lots of hatred for the union employees expressed on this site. People who actually wish an end to careers.
No platitudes of grace for us, huh? Gotcha.
@1hns, let’s hope karma is as illusive to you as is your conscience and decency towards others.
I’m not sure whether you were just trying to be a light-hearted richard but, any time a man or woman has to go home to their kids and spouse to break the sad news that there will be no money coming in for food and clothes next week, it’s not deserving of a flippant cold-hearted response.
What did an innocent child do to you to be on the receiving end of your callousness?
But for the grace of God, there go I.
Who knows when the tide will turn against us?
May those who have the ability to make life-saving and life-destroying decisions understand the true impact their earthly power wields.
Yeah no biggie. Peeps get chopped every day around here.
Maybe a little senior IT basis to and against certain vendors 🤔
