Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

the long term strategy wont work - hbo max needs to blowout #s to keep at&t afloat

all of the others business cant keep up with the debt and dividend. wireless is the only business keeping afloat. overall net income was cut by 50%, 4B to 2.5B...that huge. nobody is going to sign up for hbo at $15/month. this place is doomed

you are not going to "spin off" dtv or TW, you will not get 25 cents on the dollar for dtv, which is dead. tw, randy overpaid already, att will take billions in loses on tw too. $180B in debt and you're going to spin off —right. you dont understand financials. you just cant rid yourself of debt...and pass it along.

That’s all they could talk about. I would like to see the actual three plan with the total layoff numbers and closures. This should be made public.

There was an analyst on the business new channel this morning that predicts T will spin off DTV and TW as soon as Ratty leaves (in disgrace, running all the way to the bank). He predicted T will take a betting selling them off for pennies on the $, just like T has done with just about every company they acquired, chased off all talent, then ruined, including Terrible Data, NCR, and the list goes on and on. The new strategy will be to focus on Telcom Core. If there is any core left by that time...

The people in charge are not very good at running ATT, but they are very skillful at making it seem like they are to the outside world.

The game will come to and end sooner or later. Unfortunately a lot of people and families will pay the price for the poor decisions being made at the top. My guess is Randy knows this and is in the process of packing his golden parachute before it tanks too much.
Then the Johns will take over but it be short term and only last long enough to cast blame while they themselves pack their chutes.

There may be ways they can use the wireless business to help them spin a story about thee amazing success of HBO Max. For example, what if they included HBO Max in their wireless unlimited plan? If there's something like 50 mil wireless customers (guessing at the number) and most have an unlimited plan, they'll have a lot of HBO Max subscribers pretty quickly. Of course, the HBO Max cost would be built into the wireless charge, so it's not like people intentionally signed up for it. And they'd probably have a lot of "subscribers" that seldom if ever used it, but they'd get to count them too. I'm sure there are a lot of other underhanded ways like this they can get their numbers. Keep up the layoffs and outsourcing while something like this is going on and in the short term it'll look like they're k–ling it.

I can't keep up with all the names either. There seem to be 6 or 7 offerings that just change up the words ATT, Max, DTV, Plus, HBO, Online, Now. It's hard to keep track of it all. There doesn't seem to be any clear details on what they're selling.

I'll take the ATT Plus Max Package without HBO Direct Now. I'm sure they offer it but have no idea what it would include or how much it would cost.

There are so many streaming products. The names, prices, and packages change quarterly. Just add this one to the list.
