Has anyone heard rumblings of HR working on a “job title naming” project to be announced soon?

Which new titles have a higher salary range? How come they have "Lead'" in a job title but some are Level 3 and others are Level2, a Level 2 AD has a higher salary range then a Level 3 Tech Dir? Like the person before said makes absolutely no sense. It makes one wonder if HR has a clue about the jobs and support titles and salary ranges.
a lot of this is so they can manipulate all the ages and titles on the ADEA listings to their advantage to show they did not discriminate during the upcoming lay off
A lot of orgs have people supporting the same job function and 4-5 different job titles and some with a large difference in salary range. For instance the MTS title. Some people are doing far more technical work and have technical degrees but are told they can not have an MTS title. I have friends who graduated from Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech and are supporting far more technical work outside the Labs but are told they can not have an MTS title. MTS salary range is much higher for Level 2 than other Level 2 job titles. This makes no sense.
Normally 2 reasons. 1) they don’t have enough staff to be considered a mgr (span of control it’s called) or 2) there are role consolidation/clarity exercises underway to streamline the job titles.
Several AD's (Assoc Dir) in my org will be having their titles changed since they lost most or all of their team to re-badging. I think most will become vendor oversight.
Just prepping the current cattle pens and rinsing the blood off . You won't even have a clue you are in line yet.
Yep they alway pull these shenanigans for layoffs. Goes with Randy’s creative accounting.
Sure sure. Makes it easier to encompass more people when they eliminate said Job Title.
The titles for a bunch of people under my AVP changed as well. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the new title has a higher pay band.
setting the titles up for the next pool of lay off lottery candidates
Haven't heard of that, but my groups titles changed at the beginning of the year which surprised everyone. The reason given was to make everyone's title to be sameness across the companies.
