Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Negative nellies

For all you haters and negative nellies look at Ts earnings released today. Not sterling like apple
Or tech companies but not as bad as you haters want. Sure it’s horrible to loose ones job and upper management needs to do a better job at that and we may need replacement at the c suite but t isn’t failing as many on the blog would like and wish for.

Make ATT Great Again get rid of the dead weight of people ,whose parents made Amercia great, but their offsprings are spoiled rotten, self-entitled brats. you have taken your job for granted. Att warned you years ago about progress now this whining has got to stop.

AT&T is placing all of its future eggs in the HBOMax basket to the detriment of all its other services, with the hope that HBOMax will be the silver bullet that saves them all. That's one heck of a big bet. Are you willing to bet your salary on it? Trusting leadership's "hopes" doesn't pay my bills

Ending stock price down 4% on day of announcement says it all. Customers leaving video and communication businesses in droves, revenue down and barely making earnings by cost cutting is not a good long term trend. Stephenson and Stankey (not Stanley) need to be fired!!!

The last few years of reports have been depressing, today's included. Sure, the company still hauls in a boatload of cash. But, most of the business is declining with no coherent plan to turn it around. Read up on Jim Collins. This is a dying company.

Op here. I’m actually a investment advisor on the side. I don’t reccommemd individual stocks. I believe in spreading risks so I would not tell my clients to buy att. Not because it’s a bad company but because of it’s heavy debt. Ditto for Verizon. I don’t see much upside for t stock because of it’s debt. With that said too many lousy decisions are being made by top management. We need 100 percent turnover in the c suite. We need some fresh ideas for growth. We won’t get it from the current crop. Too much me too ideas that are executed too late. However I won’t jump on the I hate t and hope it
Fails bandwagon. Too much is at stake.

Negative nellies and haters huh? Maybe you’re okay with the company wasting billions of dollars on inane accusations but we’re not. Maybe you’re okay with “leadership” loading the company with astronomical amounts of debt but we’re not. Maybe you’re okay with the company entering the highly competitive content market in which we have no experience but we’re not. Maybe you’re okay with the company being pitted against juggernauts such as Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Disney but we’re not. And finally, maybe you’re okay with employees being the sacrificial lambs for Randall’s vanity project of turning AT&T into a “modern media company” but we’re not. Keep telling yourself all is well Pollyanna.

It's strange that the OP posting this on a day where the stock is down 3.3% right now. I left the company in 2018 and I know AT&T is a good company but Randall just doesnt seem right for the job. They need to bring in someone from outside of the company to run it. Just my opinion.

Gee, I did not see Ratty on any of the financial news channels like he usually is after an earnings announcement. Totally MIA. Yeah, his performance is stellar!

You obviously believe the company propaganda spread by emails today versus the analysts and market reaction. Keep wearing those rose-colored glasses!

Down vote equals positive, up vote equal positive. Down votes are union people full of TDS and general Management hatred so they down vote anything that is good, hence, down vote equals positive. Union people, please use your health insurance ERP and get some help.

You need to look at the response from everybody except for the AT&T propaganda. They said that video sub losses had peaked.....except 4th quarter reports show that the numbers climbed. Warner made less money than the year before. Take a look at how the stock market responded.

LOL

“Not as bad as you haters want”. I think you’re getting confused with:

Employees posting about reality vs what haters want.

Keep drinking the koolaid, Randall has a super positive spin to read today. Everything is perfect here everyone. We got it all handled! Nothing to see.

Simple math would indicate if revenues are down and profits are up, they're squeezing something to obtain those profits. This is not a sustainable business model if the trend continues. At some point they will eventually run out assets to sell and/or squeeze to prop up the numbers.

Read my message again. I said it was not sterling. This is a very competitive business and t is not as innovative as tech companies. Look at Boeing. Boeing really don’t have any serious competitors for most of its products. It prints money from defense and airbus and it have months/years of backlog for their popular products. It suffered its first yearly loss since 1997. Remember who was president of the us in 1997? It was bill Clinton. T definitely have problems. My pint is it’s not failing as many am this message is directed at them. Maybe these folks would have preferred to be working for sprint? Of course t needs to pay down that massive debt quicker. Horrible decision to use cash flow to buy stock. Imho only one set of people will benefit from that and that’s the management employees whose bonus depends on stock price and who own stock options. That’s short term. It’s better long term to pay down debt when you have positive cash flow as if interest rises or positive cash flow slows down or stops your debt will be low enough to be able to tap into the debt market. It’s like you have high credit card debt and you are working it you go on luxurious vacations and buy for cash cars etc instead of paying off your credit card debt.

Read the fine print. More losses in DirecTV. That will go down as one of the worst acquisitions in corporate history. Net income plunged. Of course they want to blame that on money spent to launch WarnerMedia. Which means unless the new streaming platform is a huge success, you can keep watching the awful leadership shed jobs while trying to put a shameful PR spin on the numbers
