Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Would you be interested?

Upvote is yes, downvote if now... Anyhow... I am a developer, I was laid off by AT&T last year. I can build a site like this one but geared only towards AT&T? Would you guys be interested in having something like this or do you want to stick with Thelayoff.com? Also, let me know if there are features that you'd like to see on that site (e..g, sub sites for different groups, e.g., directv, cricket, wireless, wire, etc...)

blind is horrible, spys on you, you need to register with your mobile device, they take device fingerprints and sell data, they also run the app for all companies so they are more like a clone of this site with the exception of privacy that you have here. they are very intrusive and i'd be careful with them

You'd in effect be re-inventing blind (www_dot_teamblind_dot_com) The only caveat being people would have to sign up for it while they had an active T email account in order to get access to the "private" company forums.

"Sure, reinvent the wheel. Sounds like you learned a lot working at att "
No it is not reinvented; it is contracted out and costs a lot more.

How do we know this isn't somebody sent by Randall, since he might not be able getting metrics from thelayoff

@cji, if the site turns out to be popular, it would finance itself with ads and even make a profit for it's owner.

How would you finance it? Takes time to moderate, money for tech... gotta run ads... if you run ads cannot have racism and swearing and bullying as they block ur ad account. So, you end up like this site...

Don't delete posts. Maybe lock threads at the most.

The site needs not to violate any SEC rules concerning insider trading.

Aslong as it's anonymous. They troll this stuff

Not a bad idea but it15 would be easier to just start a group on social media like Facebook. The programming isn't what's difficult but rather getting a critical mass of people to actually follow it. The mechanisms to do that are already on e.g. Facebook.

Since I see there's discussion to include current and former T employees, I'd recommend blueandpinkT.com. Blue obviously are current employees and pink are the ones who were handed pink slips (surplused and or took MVO). Pink also can represent Tmo. Ofcourse not sure of the availability of the domain.

Personally, only cover current and former AT&t employees, and no customers

That would be a great idea. It would be good to have a site for employees and possibly customers to share news and views about this company that go beyond layoff related issues.

In the interest of job security, we may want to keep posting anonymous.

One thing that would be nice that thelayoff doesn't have would be to let people reply to posts instead of having to do so with a new post to create more of an atmosphere of discussion.

We're going to have to think up a catchy name for the site...

I would like a one off to this, where it is exclusively all things AT&T and don't interfere much
