Another 2 Year Extension?

I am hearing rumors about another 2 year contract extension in the works. Supposedly extending the contract to 2025. I haven’t heard anything officially from the Union, so I don’t know where this rumor started, but I’m just throwing it out there to see if anyone else heard this.

I don’t have a dog in this fight, so I don’t care much either way, but I disagree with your assessment.
Businesses, like individuals, dislike uncertainty.
Therefore, there would be an obvious incentive to extend if there’s a compelling reason to afoot.
Whether that will come to pass, only time will tell (or someone more in the know).

@5imm+13ckp19g: This last extension came 1-1/2 years before the old contract expired. The Company can offer an extension whenever they want to.

Anything is possible. Every company out there is struggling with their version of a 5G roll out and it's likely that by 2025 most bugs will be worked out. Some companies require a backbone wireless solution to connect main Cell towers and others want dark fiber to main towers with spectrum used to connect those site with smaller sites and yet other want fiber to every cell site. It might make sense to extend a union contract because Verizon's workforce is highly trained and skilled at deploying fiber. No one has deployed more of it in the country to date. As for the aging workforce, it is clear that Verizon needs to hire younger workers ahead of any mass retirement so that the new workers can gain the skills needed for the future.

I agree. The only better workforce is the government.

Verizon Communications has the best workforce. They will look to extend the contract for as long as the workforce out performs the competition.

Will they extend an aging workforce to not hire new employees?
You bet.

Makes sense. 5G isn't ready yet. We are needed until 5G is in place, then we are done.
