My comment might be wasted here with all the fan-boys on this board for one side or the other but I'll go ahead anyway in case normal people read this board.
One thing is very clear and that is Verizon isn't in control of the future of 5G. The market is, (customers) and our competitors, who will seek to deploy all services offered by Verizon in the Verizon core foot print and they will do this through their wireless networks. Why would they pay Verizon for the last mile? That isn't competing. You think Verizon wants to pay other companies for the last mile? lol Wake up.
Again, Verizon's venture into the next generation wireless technology isn't at their pace but the pace of the competition and demand fueled by up coming generation of customers.
Technology cuts jobs. period. Verizon will seek to become a leaner, more efficient and responsive to the network for its customers. Some believe contractors are the way to go. I don't. Having people well rained, motivated and with a vested interest will win the day every time. Contractors are nothing but futures legal issues. IMHO
Remember this. The internet wasn't Ma'Bell's idea.
In other words, one needs to look no further than the bucket truck parked in front of the local bar in the middle of the day to find them.
In other words, everyone shopping online or playing on social media all day in Basking Ridge. Got it. Thanks!
Riddens is slang meaning: to remove an entitled and lazy workforce by any means necessary.
What is “riddens”?
The sooner, the better. Good riddens.
Since your boss is so astute and well connected let him know that if the company gave us 2 months pay for every year of service ( no cap on years ) they will be able to have a very, very young and contracted work force.
Other than that we will stay until we hit SS age and/or the contract is up...or leave when we want to.
Spend it now and get us off the books or spend it over the next 3 to 5 years and we leave on our terms.
The medical for life lasts only as long as the union can negotiate it.
Don't count on that one.

Fiber is for business customers. 5G will replace copper consumer customer facilities. Dont get it twisted.
It's taken 15 + years now for FIOS to replace copper.
And there is still working copper out there.
Now, 5G will is supposed to replace FIOS?
Well, at this rate, they better start hiring because all of us will be long gone before it happens.
Copper and unions are obsolete. One serves no purpose and the other bankrupts corporations and governments at the expense of tax payers. Shareholders want them gone. Show me the $$$!
They’ve been very clear they don’t want employees. Any employees. They have this dream that 5G will just be money printing machines with no further costs than installation.
And the titanic was unsinkable.
Have you been living under a rock that process started 20 years ago newbie
and they are right. as we speak im on disability because my body is so badly broken down, from 30 years out in the trenches
Note to the executive board - Really want to get rid of the aging workforce? 3 years pay will probably do the trick. The last EISP was a joke.
They want to dump FIOS also, they believe that expensive cute little wireless phones are what the millennials want.
