Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Tactics

While I don’t really have an issue with ‘outsourcing’ - for instance, if the company no longer wants to operate its own data centers , but it shouldn’t be done this backhanded way, and jobs should absolutely go to US companies for US workers.

The twist T puts on this needs to be exposed, and hopefully serve as a catalyst for some govt changes to stop the onslaught of foreign job takeover.

In my org (a business critical app), they shipped our server support overseas , then surplused the extremely knowledgeable people who knew our data thoroughly and could be counted on to fix system issues 24/7.

In their place, they granted India workers admin access to the server and data. Most have no experience at all with the software we use. Not bashing the people, just T’s... wait a minute...the AMERICAN Telephone and Telegraph Company tactics.

Very sad this situation with Corona Virus but if anything should come out of this maybe folks will wake up regarding outsourcing the majority of d–gs and their manufacturing overseas by US d–g companies. A lot of discussion now with concerns of d–gs not readily available including antibiotics and vaccines and essential daily d–gs taken by millions of Americans as these comes from China and others. Unfortunately, it takes a disaster like this for the US to wake-up and have serious concern over the potential for d–g shortages and US dependency on China and others.

Applied for a position with British Telecom. Have family there. My application was immediately rejected. It was explained that they have to fill position with a British citizen.

No experience with the software we use, and yet things will still be up and running with no problems.

We got outsourced to an US company, "IBM", but most of our positions will be manned by offshore after one year guarantee is over

Based on training plans being put together, they are looking to ditch 40% of the people that came over to IBM by offshoring them

Fact is that no one in the C-suite gives a rat's derriere how you think it "should" be done.

Manage your career accordingly.
