Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

CWA blocks work from home

Yesterday the Company was poised to send out notifications to all employees saying everyone who can work from home should start doing so today.

CWA blocked this. It’s not fair that some can and some can’t. It’s not fair that employees have to pay for their own internet if they are working from home.

What the CWA meant was that employees working from home are not likely to file grievances, or go on strike. What, picket your own front door?

Verizon associates have no need of a union that puts the union wallet above employees safety.

Time to say goodbye to the CWA. This is the last straw.

I can't wait to raise my bucket from my truck in my front yard and waive to all my neighbors while shouting: " union ho!"

The company does provide masks, hand sanitizer and even rubber gloves thanks to CWA. If your shop doesn’t have these items, I can give you the item ordering number. Don’t be a troll and mislead the reader. If you don’t like working for Verizon, move on. We union members have real fights to fight. Not false fights about hand sanitizer that you know you have in your warehouse.

Where did you get this informations? Are we to believe that you are in a position to know something like this when nobody else does?
This is nonsense

I really do not think the CWA can tell the company it cannot enact a work at home policy during a declared National Emergency.

I am calling BS on the original post.

There are already RBOC 'work at home' call centers for over 10 years now. What is the problem?

So, the wireless workers can work from home since they’re not in a union, what are you crying about?

I suspect the OP had a hidden agenda in that silly post, that of provocateur, but the rank and file didn’t fall for it.

sorry you have to drive into work to do nothing instead of staying home and doing nothing, that’s rough

I think you misunderstood....others are being forced to work from home. You will be forced to go to work to insure the others are able to work from home. You can't blame the union for that, that's up to management. We'll talk about your feelings when the next pulse survey comes out.......if you're still alive.

"With more people forced to work from home because of coronavirus, the public will be counting on wireless workers everywhere – customer service reps at call centers and in store as well as technicians – to quickly and effectively resolve issues they are having with their service," said Jennifer Womack, a Verizon Wireless call center representative in Irving, Tex.

FORCED TO WORK FROM HOME? Are you f—ing kidding me?

Thanks again CWA. For nothing.

This is b—s—. Non customer facing employees are gonna be the least f—ing impacted. Retail locations are f—ed and all upper management keep saying is we will play ear by ear and business as usual. So basically until someone contracts it then we will decide what’s up. Get ready for a huge lawsuit. Cause f— these customers it’s about our health and life. But clearly money is more important. That’s why layoffs are happening

I heard the CWA was going to pass out free rolls of toilet paper to associates. Union benefits are the best. Unite brothers and sisters!

If the company cared about employees safety, they would be providing masks and hand sanitizer to outside field techs.....but I guess that's not in the budget.....

Those who can’t work from home, can’t work from home. Those who can, should be allowed to do so. The less people that are out better for everyone, in or out. Why would the union block this?

Calm down....take a deep breath.....if you're that worried about it, call in sick. I personally can't work from home, so should the company give me a paid month off until this blows over.... Or are you just another anti-union blowhard taking advantage of a bad situation.

Even if half the people started working from home it would make it safer for those that had to still come in to work at the same locations.
