I work the gun counter at Cabela's in Hoffman Estates, IL. Like other locations we have long lines at the gun counter. Customer stand shoulder to shoulder for up to 4 hours at a time. No safe distancing. As employees, we have to handle customer cards, use the same stylus as the customer and touch the same touchscreens. We are about 2.5 feet from every customer we take care of. When we show customer guns they are handles all day long by many, many customers. They have never been wiped off as long as I have worked there. Many of the gun counter employees are over 60 years old. When I mentioned to our gun manager something needs to be done different he just said there is nothing that can be done. We do not even have hot water in the employee restrooms to wash our hands. We have never been given masks or gloves to wear. The store is not cleaned after hours as it should be. The employees and customers are all at risk, but no one at Cabelas seem to care. It is like a cult. They all give the company line like lemmings. When will Bass Pro/Cabela's finally come to their senses? Will it take a death to make this happen? Shame on them making employees choice between a paycheck or their helath.

Michigan basspro/Cabela's employees, please contact your mayor's and governor's office. It is a misdemeanor for us to ignore this shut down order. We do not fit the 'essential' description in any way, shape or form.

To everyone wanting their voices to be heard, reach out to your local newspaper and local news stations. If you want to take it a step further, email your mayor’s office, your state senators because they’re more likely to listen than any of these b—s— managers and corporate a–holes.

I am an elderly employee at one of your
stores and I would like to know why
You and other sporting goods stores
Are exempt from closing by saying
You provide a needed service when
just about all you are selling is guns and
Ammo and don’t care about our health.
That is corporate greed

The county I live in is possibly going to enforce shelter in place on Wednesday at midnight. I wonder if that will apply to us since we are “essential” to be open. This is not a dang hurricane or severe storm. We don’t even sell toilet paper. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why is Cabelas at Fort Mill SC open.
People on top of each other at gun counter.
Employees at risk..
We have older employees working there.
Shut the store.
John Morris you cant take your money with you.

Everyone needs to start posting on bass pros social media accounts (Instagram and Facebook) so the general public can see how horrible they treat their associates!

They have not provided any extra cleaning items or gloves to protect employees, they do not care! The corporate office has many of not all working from home!!

F— all this. Someone get corporate off their lazy asses and put them on the register, let them work customer service, and let them handle all the people at the gun counter and I guarantee you, in less than 15 minutes of them doing that, the entire company would be shut down.

I gave notice today, I can't be part of this. We had parents bringing kids in the store today, bored people just wanting to get out and about (and thereby spread the virius), and lines of people to buy more guns. The customers waiting to buy firearms are sitting in folding chairs, milling around, and not maintaining soial distance.

Nothing in any Cabela's or Bass Pro is essential, and cutting back the hours to 10am-7pm and reducing the number of customers allowed in the store to 50 is a lame half hearted concession. Lives are at stake, and Bass Pro won't do the right thing.

CMM from Southeast Bass Pro here, Reflexis and AccessVia suspiciously absent of anything for April. Hope? Maybe? I'm just as disillusioned with this company as you are.

So either we follow the city’s order and shut down or we stay open and shut down anyway because nobody is going to show up? Either way we f—ing shut down but apparently cutting store hours is going to fix it? F— this whole company

Michigan started a 3 week lockdown. Bass pro says business as usual!!! 50 person limit. Report these id–ts!

Apparently only allowing 50 people in the store at a time will completely eliminate the chances of spreading the virus f— this whole company

Waco is only reducing store hours all because some corporate lawyers along with our GM decided to argue against the City of Waco’s shelter in place order. F— Cabela’s, f— Bass Pro, and f— Johnny Morris

Seems like the Cabela’s in Waco is shutting down. Mayor declared a shelter in place order. Apparently some higher ups are trying to argue that we’re an essential retailer and need to stay open.

I work in a TX bass pro/tracker boats and don’t understand why we are still open either. Our parts window is located right before you turn a corner for the break room and restrooms anyone can use. EVERYONE WALKS BY! I’ve been spraying disinfectant after every single person comes to the window, and heavily cleaning handles and surfaces we all touch in the shop and parts area. Im just glad the parts Windows are very wide so six feet is doable.

It’s crazy that any of us are still open. Either we call in and aren’t able to pay bills or we go to work and put not only our own, but our family’s health and well-being at risk. That’s not a decision anybody should ever have to make and especially not right now.

I saw a comment that the governor of Ohio declared it essential and this honestly makes me anxious. The fact that even if my state goes on “lockdown” I might still be forced to go risk my health and possibly others if I contract the virus, is awful to think about. The country is talking about how serious this is but not much is being done to prevent it. Good luck everyone

Too late Mr. Morris! Your brand has been forever tarnished. Your culture, exposed for the greed it displays. Your legendary outfitters sadly no longer respect you. Our future preferred stores will be REI, d—s, and Academy among others! Your legend is finished.

Big decision for me tomorrow if BP-Cabela's does not abide by the Ohio Stay At Home Order, hate to walk out but I won't work for a company that puts profits over everyone else's health. We could literally be helping spread the virius, and k–ling folks. Let Johnny come to Ohio and be a Club Greeter, Cashier, or pull a shift in Footwear. I'll pray BP-Cabela's does the right thing and closes, if not I won't be a part of it.

Talked to one of the managers today and she was genuinely p-ss-d at opening early to let the elderly folks come in early to shop. What peeves me to no end is one of our HR members promotes anti-vax garbage on facebook and gives us all the "it's okay just wash your hands the media is just trying to put you into fear because that way you become a sheep:)" yet I havent seen her around in 2 weeks. Hey but how is everyones club brackets going for march madness?

I'm in Ohio, work for BP/Cabela's and if BP/Cabela's are not closed at the end of the day in accordance with the Ohio Stay At Home Order I quit, this is beyond reason. We do not provide essential services, we sell outdoor leisure activity products. Fishing poles, clothing, firearms, turkey fryers, boats, smokers, are deemed essential? This is wrong.

The Cabelas I’m working at closed down our break room just to open another one that just defeats the purpose of cleaning the main break room. A lot of my coworkers are afraid to get corona and spreading it to their family members who are already on the edge due to health problems. They aren’t even worried about it all they are worried about is that b—s— club card and their “legendary” service for their loyal customers.

I work at basspro and I think it is crazy that we are still open due to Johnny not wanting to lose money. He is a very rich man and has nothing to lose. He cares nothing for his employees, we all may feel different if we got better pay and maybe a bonus for Christmas but instead we get a ham or turkey and that is it. As hard as some of us work to keep the store up and running, as it is the employees that run the damn stores not him or the other managers. And what do we get nothing, yes I am grateful for my job as places are closing everyday. But I hate to know that we all are risking our health for dumb–s people to come in and buy a gun, or a boat. This store is a want store not a need store

Supposedly ohio BP/CAB declared essential and staying open, maybe just the managers interpretation right now, we'll see what the work- from-home corporate thinks tomorrow.

I posted before about how I work at a Cabelas DC. I see people posting about how they work in food and we should just be grateful we’re working. I also have a second job waitressing to make ends meet. I understand the stress but I am more concerned about stopping spreading a disease that could k–l millions of people than I am about finances rn. You should all do the same

OUR JOBS MATTER JUST AS MUCH AS ALL OTHERS! I feel for those who have lost their jobs due to this pandemic, however, there are people who work at these locations & have done ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING to even prepare the stores with the BASIC of supplies to help stop this spread. In fact, the company would rather keep stores open & put EVERYONE at risk at the expense of CORPORATE GREED! No, we all didn't expect this to happen but, we care about the safety of OURSELVES AND OTHERS. How dare anyone say that we're ungrateful for our jobs or just to "shut up" because YOU don't take it seriously!

Stay calm and use the prevention measures given to you. Nobody likes being put in harm's way, 80% infected will have only mild symptoms. No one is forced to do anything they dont want to do in this mess. Some people are just left trying to earn a living. Think about those of us in food service work who aren't getting paid until this is over.
