How can Bass Pro Home Office Store Close and still keep a filthy dirty store like Forest Park, Cincinnati open??? The Health Department ordered JACKSON County Kansas City to Close as they clearly are not considered non essential. Selling dry food at an outrageous dollar amount does not justify opening. Selling Guns and Ammo to any dumb a– off the street for a buck is unreal...
Folks.... Do Not put yourself at risk of this deadly COVID-19 Virus by entering this store because you are bored. It has been reported to the health department two individuals have tested positive after a visit to this location. Do the math.
This owner has done NOTHING to protect its loyal employees.
6 ft social distancing is a joke
No hand sanitizer EVER!! No hot water in restrooms. No plexiglass
No face masks.
This sh–ty a– company will risk their employees dying to make a buck is pathetic. Managers have NO back bone and try to pressure employees of fear that they will be fired. The only id–ts working there are CLEAR A– Kissers and IDOTS!!!
Call The Local Hamilton Health Department Now!!!
Help keep OHIO safe and obey
this extended Stay At Home Order
By Your Governor.
Johnny Morris...SHUT DOWN ALL
YOUR STORES for the safety of all people you sick pathetic b–tard!!!!!!!

No one is more pro second amendment than I am, but keeping businesses like Bass Pro/Cabela's open at a dangerous time like this is not right. I have been a long time supporter of the NRA, but now I will re-think my support. I do not see anyone from the NRA out in close contact with hundreds of people everyday risking getting the coronavirus. Easy to say these businesses should be open when it is not you at risk.

As long as gun gomers keep buying guns and ammo (they won't stay at home ) to protect their TP then they will remain open and grab a buck , and the NRA will fight to keep BPS open to sell guns only , it's BS all to make a buck that's all it's for and not for rights in a crisis. In the mean time I chose to take a leave and stay home without pay for my safety rather than work at BPS

Me: Dear magic 8 ball, will BPS be able to keep their heads above water during this Covid-19 epidemic?

Magic 8 ball: outlook not so good.

“When I was there...”

Please, just stay home. Especially as you believe it’s unsafe (which it is). Employees are only there risking their health because some people continue to shop. No one is coming to steal your t.p. or beef jerky.

Surprised there has not been a Covid-19 outbreak. Selling hundreds of guns per day, not to mention ammo flying off shelves must have brought the strong possibility of getting the disease. When I was there the 6’ rule was not in place at all.

Guns were just declared “ essential “ compliments of our federal government. Look for things to get worse. Not pessimism just reality. At a time people are freaking out about life and death issues and they have more time on their hands to run conspiracy theories put more guns in people’s hands and ammo out there. I just can’t. I have to say I don’t hold out much hope for the survival of the human race. These people had hate in their hearts and heads to begin with they were just looking for some vindication and someone that would accept their ideals. God help us that people think gun toting , a Bible and a flag all go together.

Well Florida is going under stay at home order tonight and guess who’s staying open! I already have reached out to local news here and the mayors office. Cross your fingers.

I’ve been following this discussion for the last several days and it sure looks like someone came through the thread last night and down-voted basically every comment. Looks like they really care about people’s health and safety. These are real people here discussing their fears and concerns. Have some consideration for their stories. They’re clearly not getting that consideration from the company.

I couldn’t agree more. The faster everybody complies, the sooner “normal” life will resume. Y’all should try calling the local authorities. I know in MI, they are the officials appointed to deal with violators. I’ve personally seen 2 businesses forced to close after they thought they were essential. Good luck and God bless! Stay safe everyone.

I contacted David McSweeney (Illinois House District 52) and Dan McConchie (Illinois Senate District 26) 11 days ago and I have not heard anything back from their offices as yet. It is as if no one cares about the employees or customers at Cabela's. Or maybe Bass Pro gives these two politicians campaign money so they do not want to make Bass Pro/Cabela's upset. Bass Pro/Cabela's do not have clear plexiglass up between the employees and the customers. We have not been given face masks. We do not have hot water to wash our hands in the restrooms. All they have to do is call a plumber to get hot water, but they do not want to pay them. Gun counter employees have been and still are pushed to the limit taking care of customers. We often do not even get a lunch break because it is too busy. Employees at grocery stores are treated better and better protected than we are. Good for those companies. At Bass Pro/Cabela's employees are seen as expendable. Management will not stick up for the employees. Mostly because they all fear for their jobs. Bass Pro/Cabela's will fire managers at the drop of a hat. Managers will not push back against corporate. No backbone. Bass Pro/Cabela's will risk an employee dying in order to make money. Why will no one of influence help us out?

My husband works for them and has not gone to his job at Cabelas/Bass Pro for 11 days. He has used some vacation pay and it really pisses me off! He has auto immune issues and takes meds daily that put him at risk if he is around this disease. He has tried to call his HR Dept. for two days to discuss this and they do not answer the phone or call back. This behavior is unacceptable Bass Pro!! Your employees deserve MUCH better!!

This HAS to be an April Fool's joke!!!! Bass Pro Shops, Bolingbrook, IL just posted on their Facebook site:
Are you looking to get back into nature, but your boat needs work? Come see our service center at Bass Pro - Bolingbrook. We are open Monday - Saturday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Call us at 630-296-2666 to discuss your service needs and get back out on the water!

Sadly, I know that it's not.

Why would a store that had been on reduced hours (10-6) suddenly increase them to 10-7 literally the day after the Gov of that state extended the stay-at-home order until the end of the month?? Anyone? Bueller?

I've recently discovered all the standalone Tracker dealers are being forced to stay open as well. They sell boats for recreational use. No guns or food. Nonessential! Absolute pathetic display of greed and overall lack of compassion for human life. Wayne Stoke and the rest of coporate are nothing but pure souless pieces of trash. Keep sending out those cute little memos how Bass Pro cares about the health and safety of their employees. Now get to work while people are dropping like flies! I truly hope this ends up biting them but unfortunately alot of people are just as ignorant as the fools at coporate are. Keep fighting y'all!

To all disgusted and frustrated employees - please continue to speak up! DO NOT let this unethical company bully you into silence!! Call and write to your local news media. Many have FB pages and allow you to use messenger to contact them. I've received positive replies from and have corresponded with several reporters (Chicago area) and continue to hope the story will get covered. There is power in numbers, so let's work as a team and get the word out. Send a link to this thread along with a brief letter expressing your frustration. If enough people do this, maybe we can get someone to cover this story at a nationwide level!

Someone mentioned that BPS would end up like Kmart/Sears.

Well guess where the GSM at the Bolingbrook, IL store (which remains open despite Gurnee, IL finally closing) is from??

Bass Pro, Gurnee, IL closed on March 28th, "for the health and safety of our community", yet Bass Pro, Bolingbrook, IL and Cabela's, Hoffman Estates, IL remain open. Apparently, the health and safety of THOSE communities isn't important to them. "Health and safety" , my *ss!! Obviously, the single store that closed in IL was FORCED to do so at the local level. I've written to state reps and news media, and received a few replies, but to date, no action has been taken. It's SO frustrating because NO ONE is paying attention to this!I Today, I found this thread and sent a link to news media. Will someone PLEASE listen?!?!?!?!?!

Disgusting at best. May all who work there be safe and well. I think this will all stay with the company long term. It’s just disgusting in all things right. You used to be number 1. Now you will end up like Sears and Kmart. You chose greed over humanity. May god help you and your family.

Stuff like this will never stop the virus people will keep spreading this virus

JOHNNY MORRIS SHUT DOWN YOUR STORES FOR THE SAFETY OF PEOPLE

In addition to Bass Pro shops remaining open. This company still has Big Cedar Lodge open and operating. I have a friend that is still working there the company will not allow the employees to use gloves or masks citing that it's bad for their image! Also have heard that they are charging their customers that didnt cancel their reservations with in the time allotted. If I were them I would worry more about the damage they have done to there image by staying open. Is the lives of their workers not valued with this company. I agree Bass Pro will not be getting any more of my money . Such a disappointment I really thought this company would help fight the problem not contribute to it.

So this has gone from weird to surreal, at the Westchester, OH, store today we were issued "pass" letter certifying we were BP/Cabela's employee's, essential blah blah blah nonsense verbage, so any LEO or National Guard type manning a checkpoint would let us get to our "critical jobs." BP/Cabela's is planning on staying open no matter what.

I called the local Health Dept/Board, left my name and phone number, hopefully someone with gumption will listen to me, I can't believe I've let myself get s—ed into this evil organization, at least I am on my way out.

Store hours being cut back yet again. Employee hours being cut and being made up (sort of....based in your average worked the last 4 weeks) from the covid account. At this point there is no way the company is making money. Close up shop, let us draw unemployment and go home where we are way less exposed to this virus.

Westchester, OH, store had lots of customers today, few buying anything, "just looking", customers with nothing better to do but spread the virus. So many of our older employees are high risk, more of them are not coming in, too many still are. The next customer that asks me how I'm doing is liable to get a reply along these lines "great, given I'm exposed to a potential deadly virus so you can shop for our life sustaining essentials"

If you can work your full 80 hours. Don't fall for managements trying to reduce your hours.

by
| | Reply
Post ID: @gbda+13X6mnXU

Employees are being paid a full 80 hours even though you haven't worked the 80 hours. The company is keeping track of those non working hours that they paid you. If your store closes your two week pay will be minus those hours. So you could end up only getting a week and a half of pay. It will depend on how many non working hours they paid you earlier.

West chester Ohio just started giving out 80hrs. "COVID-HOURLY" in workday, but no indication that store is closing, to the public or otherwise? Anyone from a closed or semi-closed store seen this happen at their store? Haven't gotten emails or calls or anything.
