I have heard the same thing. I heard if you are not called back prior to 21 days or so they will never call you back. They are under no obligation to bring you back. This is their way of weeding those out who they really do not want. In our store only the outfitters who are part time and very, very old were given a furlough. At the same time our store has hired several new outfitters while some are on furlough. Not sure if it is true, and I know it is not fair, but anything is possible with the terrible team of corporate managers at Bass Pro/Cabela's.

Has anyone heard that those who've been furloughed will be let go? Is this a rumor?

Funny how only so many people allowed in the store at one time hmmmmm Since people got their stimulus money this week, let’s not count anymore. The past few days they in their spending that stimulus check. . Let’s make every dollar we can get and not worry about the virus. That’s exactly how Johnny and his board of directors think. They don’t give a rats a@@ about the employees.

Pardon my surprise but I cannot believe that all these people are getting infected and dying and a sporting goods store is remaining open as an outlet for more infections to incubate. Unbelievable the greed and lack of care for others health and safety that Johnny Morris is showing right now. God have mercy on your soul.

The older I get the more I realize they are very stupid people in this world. Those who just do not understand that working and shopping at a sporting good store is not an intelligent thing to do. The people who think that is OK are either stupid or naïve. If you don’t understand by now how viruses are spread then you will never understand fully. People like you make society more ignorant and at risk.

To I am guessing this is the Cabela's Layoff site ?
You clearly are a dumb a– and have no clue...if you are working it’s because you have NO balls to step up and say something. For everyone else good for you continue to write your concerns and complaints here..
Clearly this Owner could care less about his employees or his customers. Keeping both these stores open shows us all how pathetic and greedy Mr Morris is.
Once this is all over look for another job get away from this madness
You deserve more.

So, some are saying we should not fight for what we believe is right. Just ignore everything and quit. If those involved in equal rights many years ago did the same thing they would not have won many rights. Get real. You have a weak stance but you just can not admit it. Also, You wrote get your unemployment. Judging by your genius comments you obviously do not have all of the facts. You can only go on unemployment if the company actually lays you off or furloughs you. Employees at our Cabelas store have asked to be laid off or furloughed and they were told they could not. Only those the company choose to get laid off or furloughed are eligible. So many holes in your arguments. Weak intellect.

I am guessing this is the Cabela's Layoff site ? Haven't seen this much complaining since I read the Cabela's site. Sounds almost like the same bunch of people to. As one person put it , just QUIT. No one is making you work! Stay home, stay safe, protect your family and friends. Do the right thing, walk out and don't come back. Get your Unemployment and stay safe. Bass Pro is not going to shut down because you complain. Your not happy working for Bass Pro and you don't like the decisions they make. Cabela's and Bass Pro is not your cup of tea, stupid people coming in to buy guns or what ever is not for you.
Do the rest of us id–ts that are staying a favor- Shut up or Get out !

People like you make society more ignorant and at risk. People are more important than money. Lives are more important than money. Just ask the relatives of those who have died from the coronavirus. They would gladly have the relative give up the paycheck to still be alive. Your little brain obviously can not comprehend this concept. But that is OK many of us have to deal with id–ts like you on a daily basis so we just ignore you the best we can and humor you with a smile every once in a while, while you tell us your grand stories about how things really should be.

I don’t think you are thinking about anything at all. Food doesn’t grow in my home. 🤡Staying at home except for ESSENTIALS. That means that sporting goods aren’t . If I encounter you or anyone else that possessed the excellent judgment to go into a sporting goods store in a national health emergency when a deadly virus is being spread that no one has immunity to then it could be passed along to me. Then I could in turn pass it. Maybe you don’t understand epidemiology. That is how this virus is being spread. That is irresponsible behavior. Do more for humanity than be selfish. Care what happens to everyone even if you don’t know them.

Then just quit. If you’re really scared you are going to die just quit. Anyone thinking Johnny Morris owes them anything is being naive. Everybody complaining on here can make the decision for themselves not to work for someone they clearly blame for such atrocities like keeping us employed. Man up and make the decision yourself. All you Would be doing by quitting is fast forwarding to when your unemployment will run out and you find yourself needing a job. Or........ just keep complaining about being forced to go to work and collect a paycheck. Go talk to the millions who are trying to collect unemployment and wish they were working.

I don’t think YOU read that message clearly. It was asked “If YOU guys are staying home safely how can those still working put YOU at risk? Everyone here is concerned about THEIR health right? No one is talking about the risky humans putting themselves at risk. Keep yourself safe. Stay the f#@$ home and shut the f@#$ up.

To the person that asked how those working in a sporting goods store coming in contact with all the people that have risky enough behavior that think sporting goods are essential in a national health crisis affects others? Maybe you haven’t noticed what is going on around you and that that is how this disease is spread is by others behavior. Makes me think you didn’t think that question through before you asked it .

To the person who wrote: Everyone is an adult, you have to right to make your own decisions. Another weak and unintelligent argument form you and those like you. Your decision can adversely affect the health of the greater majority at large. I just can't fathom how someone can be so ignorant. We are dealing with something we have not really dealt with in over 100 years. Your ignorant decisions can and will affect others. Why can you not see this? It is you who are being selfish. Yes, I am not screaming to close down grocery stores. You want to know why? Because groceries stores are an actual, real "essential business. Unlike product sold at Bass Pro/Cabelas. Also, many grocery stores are giving their employees extra pay to perform these duties. Bass Pro/Cabelas does not do this. Groceries stores were leading the way many weeks ago putting in safeguards such as supplying gloves, masks, plexiglass barriers and limiting the number of customers in a store at one time. They did this weeks before Bass Pro/Cabelas did so. And even now we do not have masks at our Cabela's store. It is your right to disagree, but please be intelligent with your arguments. It is a good thing these postings are anonymous. It saves you from embarrassment by those who know who you are.

The person that talked about if Bass Pro not closing its doors instead of saving lives? You are a self centered human. Be careful what you wish for. I’m wanting to ensure the health and lives of the group of employees I have come to care about that I work with. Most are older and would have an increased likelihood of either getting very sick or death. Yet you talk about money? If those doors close and lives are spared we would get unemployment for 6 months or longer depending on how long this continues. If the life of even one of my co workers is spared then that has been a worthwhile cause as people are a precious commodity that cannot be replaced money can. There are resources all over that will offer food as far as clothing? For real? I can safely say many less fortunate than yourself and myself will go hungry and without clothes before we do. Many will suffer and die as well and their loved ones lives will be changed forever but you don’t likely care about that or the fact it might not be you but you being in the public’s face as well as fellow employees will contribute to the virus spreading. That is factual. Other countries had to lock everything down to stop the spread and save lives yet you think Bass Pro being open and people wandering around aren’t contributing to people dying even if you haven’t been directly affected yet ? You are clueless.

Everyone is an adult, you have to right to make your own decisions . You can opt out and not work and protect yourself and your family. Or you can chance the health concerns and work, bringing home a paycheck to feed , cloth and house your family. Everyone has choices, and at no point does Bass Pro control your life, you can walk away and choose another path. Do what you find right for yourself and those who you care for. But don't berate the people who make a choose and still work. I don't see anyone on here screaming to close down the Grocery stores, or ranting about the restaurants that deliver or provide pickup service. At the end of the day, Food cost money, rent and bills need paid. And after this is all over, the economy will start back up. But with 6.6 Million people filling for unemployment some people would rather try to hang on to the job they have then stand in line to get another. So protests, sign a petition, call into work sick, or just say you don't feel safe coming to work. But stop with the endless bashing of the people who are working, and the company that is trying to stay afloat and keep people employed best it can. Because if they shut the doors on your location there is a good chance those doors won't open back up again. Cost cutting and shuttering of locations will be first on the minds of the bean counters since they have bills to pay! As they saying goes, "Be careful what you wish for, you might get it"

To the ignorant human that asked the da question about what is talking about the health of our employees and loved ones going t to accomplish? My hope is that you are not always this clueless and self centered about everything in life. You selfish genius if you don’t understand by now the cooperation of everyone is the only thing that gets this virus under control. This virus is transmitted by the aerosol in the air and is capable of hanging in the air 3 hours. Meaning someone could be asymptomatic and breathe and a person could walk through it 2 hours later and contract it and that person ultimately lose their lives from breathing it in . Its a respiratory virus its path of entry into the body is through breathing it in. We have a responsibility as humans that anything we can do to protect and preserve human life that we do so. We are aware of how this is transmitted so in engaging in activity that puts human lives in danger we should not be promoting and or doing. Someone like yourself and your selfishness careless thinking is why I have almost completely lost faith in humanity.

Ignorance abounds. Those who choose to keep working, put all of us in danger. They can unwittingly spread the virus to others. If those who choose to ignore the safety and health of the outfitters and, god forbid, have a family member get sick and die because of your pompous attitude I am sure you would change your tune. In the meantime, I will pray you and your family will be safe. It is obvious you don't really care deep down or you would not feel the way you feel. I have been there in the firearms department taking care of hundreds of employees and day. We were not given any gloves until a week ago, we still do not have masks. We had plexiglass put up just three days ago. We work over 50 hours a week to take care of customers. We are all pushed to the limit. Many of us have been sick. "Their choice" can have harmful effects on others. Stupidity in most cases can not be cured.

What is talking about the “health and safety of the employees and their families” going to accomplish? If they are concerned and keep going to work that is their choice and no one else’s. If they feel like it is more important to keep employment to put food in their child’s mouth it is their choice and no one else’s. There are too many self righteous people on here that think they know what’s best for other people.

I agree. Jobs come and go. But, we all only have one life to live and Bass Pro/Cabela's is gambling with our lives (not their lives). Every bad decision this company makes only affects the outfitter and their families. Not the corporate bigwigs who make these asinine decisions. Those in corporate who do not face customers on a daily basis and many of which are working from home are probably laughing at the outfitters, remarking how stupid and ignorant they must be. The employees are the peons and grunts who are seen by corporate as easily replaceable.

No. We should not be talking about JOBS! At this point, after all the employees have had to endure working closely with hundreds of customers everyday, we should be talking about the health and safety of the employees and their families. Period!

They closed you down in Denver Johnny! What an embarrassment to be called out by the authorities as to what kind of human being you are! Low and irresponsible enough to put the public’s health in danger just to pad your wallet and increase your wealth. I hope and pray for my own and all other employees health and that of their loved ones that they continue to make public that they are having to close you down because you aren’t a law abiding citizen or human being that cares about the public’s welfare you are making money off of.

Just read Forbes ripped you a new one Johnny Morris for the irresponsible decision of keeping the stores open risking the health of those you employ and fellow American citizens. If you take your responsibility to society seriously you would have signed the Giving Pledge. Forbes noted all other retailers remaining open, essential businesses, those suppliers of groceries are increasing their employees pay and giving managers bonus’s but you show your appreciation to your workers by not only putting us out there but cutting our wages telling us our quantity and quality of work must remain the same. I don’t even want to think about what kind of person you are inside to put profit over human lives. Johnny may think he is saving his company but the way all people and businesses handled this will be remembered. You are writing your own history with your greed instead of showing your goodness and generosity. God does reward good souls. He has a wrath as well you may do well to remember that you will be judged in the afterlife. Since you are more concerned with worldly things your being judged very harshly in life as well. News media and we are all getting the word out about how we are being treated. You must think someones breath if they cough or sneeze isn’t capable of going airborne and hanging in the air long enough to be picked up by someone else or on objects customers breathe on as the virus is airborne. Come on out and work along side us in a store a full day face to face and provide customer service helping customers outfit for their hunting and fishing ESSENTIAL NEEDS. Show us your worth. Show you aren’t a hypocrite and you aren’t sitting back watching laughing just giving us orders to do something that you wouldn’t do yourself. This blood money isn’t going to spend well trust and believe that. Karma is real and you get back what you give. People with the virus are definitely coming into your stored no way around that with these numbers rising. They were asymptomatic for 10 -14 days meanwhile spreading it everywhere they were. We will all keep putting out what kind of human you really are. When this is over due to the awful decisions you made and choosing not to step up and show what a big person you could be like other Sporting Goods stores you showed your greed. You won’t have the business you did before people are seeing your true identity.

Wow how low can you go Johnny Morris. Found out why wages were lowered and raises have been curtailed for the remainder of this year. Bass Pro thinks since we are going to get $1200 from the government they can lower our salaries. So if there is a second payment program by the government does that mean our wages will be lowered another time? You really are scum Johnny Morris.

Opening back up stores that were closed in states where the death toll and spread of the virus continues to rise is a stupid and irresponsible thing to do. People on here that are ignorant enough to say they are thankful that we are open because they have a job. Can’t work from 6 feet under ground. Can’t see your parents and loved ones once they are there either. People that choose money over life are either lacking in intelligence or morality. Maybe both. You can all file unemployment due to your health concerns . Yours, your loved ones and the public at large. Unemployment guidelines are saying that you may do so. This choice is separating people who have integrity and those that don’t. Johnny isn’t keeping the stores open for us he is doing it for himself. Profitability off foolish uneducated rednecks that think they need to be out tending to their weaponry instead of behind locked doors of their home . It isn’t about you getting it and staying healthy it’s about everyone. This virus survived thousands of miles across many oceans to America anyone thinking it cannot survive in a store adhering itself to everything and droplets staying in the air when someone breathes then you walking by breathing it in then taking it to ones you hold dear is truly not grounded in reality or seeing the gravity of this situation. This is the time to take care of those you love if not yourself. This vital doesn’t know wealth or popularity well known wealthy people are contracting it and dying.
