Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey's Pay Rises to $22.5 Million in 2019

Hey guys, we need to lay you off and cut costs so we can almost double Stankey’s pay. Doesn’t that just make you feel good inside knowing your sacrifices will help Stankey make ends meet ? He’s struggled enough:

The AT&T executive had made $16.6 million in 2018.

WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey made $22.5 million in 2019, AT&T disclosed in a regulatory filing on Wednesday.

The executive, who was also promoted to the role of AT&T's president and COO late last year, made $16.6 million in 2018 and $10.01 million in 2017.

In the filing, AT&T also reported chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson's compensation for 2019 rose to $32 million. He had earned $29.1 million in 2018 and $28.7 million in 2017.

With the 2018 mega-deal for Time Warner, AT&T's collection of media assets includes HBO, Warner Bros., CNN and the Turner networks.

The telecom giant, based in Dallas, will in May launch its streaming service HBO Max.

Stankey's promotion was widely seen as positioning his as a successor to Stephenson down the line. He joined AT&T in 1985 and has served in various leadership roles, including corporate strategy and M&A; media and entertainment; operations, IT and technology; consumer mobility, broadband and TV; and enterprise business.

I am not one of these guys constantly bemoaning executive pay levels...but really, the unmitigated gall of these friggin' guys. Unbelievable. If they had any sense of optics they would take a symbolic small pay cut while they are throwing so many out the door. But they don't. Because they absolutely couldn't give a flip.

88% pay out because we didn’t reach the corporate goal and yet the executives seemed to out perform expectations?

Seems like the perfect time for a sick out!

I'm not one to try to limit the pay of anyone. But to see what these people make at the top while their underperformance costs regular folks their jobs is a shame.

Jobs will be lost to technology changes, but this company has perfected the art of the cut. So much so that they figured a way to make people work for a year somewhere else and train their own replacements. How does that not violate the values of the COBC?

May the executive suites be swept away by Coronovirus...

After all, AT&T is feeding too mouths. Amiright, Mr. Stankey?

"You both should be jailed like the ENRON crooks."

With all the fraud and lies you may get your wish. When confronted with unsolvable business problems like excessive debt and a dwindling customer base executives often reach for the "easy button". Nortel executives did it, Bernie Ebbers did it. Would anyone be shocked if we had someone who, like Fastow at Enron knew how to hide the ugly stuff?

and yet they stolen pension money from employees by not updating information. I hope they will see justice.

Maybe I should find a way to waste a few billion dollars this year so I can see a 30+ percent raise.
These guys are living in fantasy land while stroking each other at the expense of the entire company.

It must be nice getting a 35% Salary increase. Just by saying you know more than the experts.

Wow, a 35% pay raise for complete incompetence.

How many real employees saw that kind of increase?

Shame on you Stankey and Randall - you guys ruined this company and continue to steal from it. You both should be jailed like the ENRON crooks. You have not only ruined lives of hardworking employees, but you have also ruined the great reputation of AT&T — Bell Labs
