Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Headcount Rationalization and the The C-Suite Malignancy

The cancer at headquarters in the executive suite has now spread throughout the employee body.
AT&T Leadership has helped to destroy many lives of once dedicated employees, destroyed billions in shareholder value and made AT&T a slave to Wall Street bankers and hedge funds by promising to reduce debt at all costs to save their own C-Suite jobs. The AT&T Board of Directors are complicitant in allowing the spread of this cancer over the last 5 years- not surprisingly as their own pockets are padded with stock.

The T- Mobile 4 Billion dollar break up fee started the cancer as they used the money to build their own network to compete with us and take our customers for themselves- Who agreed to that Fee?. Then the DTV 67 Billion Dollar merger for a company that was touted in 2015 to "Make U-verse profitable on the day the merger closed" by the then CEO who now claims "He knew that we bought a declining business" and that claim is now often repeated by the new COO his heir apparent- a bold face lie. Next the 100 Billion dollar purchase for Time Warner so we could run off all of the top talent in their divisions and our new COO with 30 years of Telecom experience (and none in Hollywood) could read scripts all day and make the needed changes- you can't make this stuff up. Now in 2020 we promise Paul Singer (Elliot Management) we won't use daddy's credit card for the next 3 years and buy anything else so we can keep our own cushy jobs in Dallas. Lastly 20,000 employees were fired last year due to this total incompetence of the AT&T Leadership over the last 5 years mentioned above (PR and New ATT Communications CEO says all were offered jobs within AT&T when questioned about layoffs- laughable) but the next 20,000 will not be fired- it will be called "Headcount Rationalization". The patient is now on life support. Surgery to remove the cancer is not an option. Only a miracle could save the patient now.

"Destroyed shareholder value? Total hyperbole. Dividend payout has been very good. There's some shareholder value for you. Enjoy."

That's humorous. It's not just how much dividend they pay. It's important to realize that they are jeopardizing the long term value of the company by buying back stock instead of investing in the future or paying off the debt. And by cutting to the bone to please Elliott, "leadership" is preserving their own jobs at the expense of long term viability of the company. Don't drink the koolaid brother.

shareholder value increased because of stock buybacks, not by growing the business.

Most manager positions will be some of the headcount-rationalization work we're doing on overhead, some of the benefit restructuring that we've done that we've already communicated out that get us a good way to some of our objectives this year - you’re fired.
