Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Tucker Carlson show on FOX had a segment on AT&T re-badging - were you able to catch it?

I thought I heard they said that anyone re-badged could come back to AT&T if that employee wanted to return. I don't believe it.

I work at the old DTV headquarters... and it's true.

Accenture people have been moving in and are going to be taking over around Q2 this year. They're taking the positions of many who were laid off last quarter.

The H1-B are NOT smarter than us. In fact, the code they write here is horrible and we constantly have to fix it. There are also American contractors who work here and they do a way better job. None of this makes any sense. The higher-ups are clueless. If they continue down this road, the ATT TV product is going to fail.

They also got a poster of Lebron on the cafe with part of his head cut off promoting the new fiber plans.

AT&T's claim might be entirely correct. The devil is in the details. Is the "new AT&T jobs" a job as a rep in a call center? What is missing is, it isn't going to be the same job at the same pay as formerly.

Good point on the Fox vs. CNN, “fake news” debate. It just doesn’t matter. Like the other comment noted, the more exposure, the better.

Besides, don’t forget who owns CNN. Do you expect a truly objective story on the company to come from within?

Kinda getting tired of seeing the CNN vs Fox, "fake news" comments etc. Regardless of which way you lean, what networks you watch...shining a light on this is a GOOD thing. Again, regardless which way you lean, it is indisputable that Fox by far has the largest cable news viewership, so there are a lot of eyeballs that were previously unaware of all of this that now know. Keep shining that light.

I hope this keeps gaining speed. While I don’t really have an issue with ‘outsourcing’ - for instance, if the company no longer wants to operate its own data centers , but it shouldn’t be done this backhanded way, and jobs should absolutely go to US companies for US workers.
The twist T puts on this needs to be exposed, and hopefully serve as a catalyst for some govt changes to stop the onslaught of foreign job takeover.
In my org (a business critical app), they shipped our server support overseas , then surplused the extremely knowledgeable people who knew our data thoroughly and could be counted on to fix system issues 24/7. In their place, they granted India workers admin access to the server and data. Most have no experience at all with the software we use. Not bashing the people, just T’s... wait a minute...the AMERICAN Telephone and Telegraph Company tactics.

The one thing I wondered about is, does AT&T have anonymous "spokesmen"? And all we heard was Tucker, not the AT&T spokesman, nor did we see any letter.

I used to work for mobility group until 2019. Many of supporting groups were from India, one of them being Tech Mahindra. They gradually took over the support of many elements of the mobility network. It is very sad. Good this issue was brought up on the news.

I’m so glad that the low class, arrogant liars who run this company are being exposed

The ATT reply was a blatant lie. All re-badging contracts I know of restrict employees from returning within a year. What FBO did was offer all surplused employees an undefined job in beautiful Birmingham so they could say they all had offers to stay and restricted those surplused who don't take a job in Birmingham from talking to overseas Accenture employees. Anyone can see through ATTs lies and conniving. The re-badge so they don't have to pay severance. It's a lie they can't find talent here when they already have it and lay them off to get cheap, useless. Inexperienced contract workers

“Year of action” that’s what L2-L1 management was handed down. Mostly year of handing down discipline up to and including dismissal.

While AT&T outright lied, they will justify it saying they meant if someone applies for a job at T and gets hired they are free to come back and will be bridged

This is the most unethical company there is and I am glad this is being brought to light. Maybe this will help knock the egos of the C suite down because they aren’t deserved at this point

Yup, they said it, Everyone can all go back to att if they want to, all you do is contact HR and Your time is bridged too...

Heard 50% in the last ibm contract will be let go. Guess those folks will be able to just move right back into a slot at att.

Except for the fact that Stinky said 10s of billions in cuts including layoffs for 2020
