Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

News Now Corona virus this morning

So I see we have restricted most travel which is no surprise. However towards the end of the note it says if you start to feel sick contact your supervisor before returning to work. I wonder if we'll have a lot of people who are not happy here starting to feel "sick" to screw the company and get some extra vacation. I am fulltime remote so I have to work unless I am almost on my deathbed :)

Speaking of questionable judgement, my leadership sent out an email, in parallel to the NewsNow, describing how great it was to have and encouraging people to be active in the collaboration zones and what it does for our organization and the company. Clueless.

The CDC recommends maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet from other people if Corona-virus becomes an epidemic, as it soon will in the United States.

Sorry to everyone stuffed in their collaboration zone like a sardine - you guys will be contracting the disease, it's unavoidable given your working conditions. Sorry to all the customers who let their AT&T installer and inhome expert into their house - our employees are subject to progressive discipline up to and including suspension and then termination if they take a day off for the flu, so there is a very good chance our employees will be infected and spreading the virus around!

It doesn’t really matter if anyone gets it, we still can’t call in sick without getting written up.

No worries about Ratty or Stinky going to their junkets to play golf or cozy up to the celebs. They fly private on the corporate jets!

For everyone else, you will be heavily penalized if you do get sick and don't come in to infect everyone. Besides, everything will be waiting for you. I don't know about anyone else, but the last time I had the flu symptoms would not completely go away for months! So they going to put people out on long term disability?!?!?

I hope our fearless leaders did not travel to wuhan china. it would be a loss to the company if they are gone. who would replace the captains of the titanic?

Thank God they issued directives on travel because my boss has questionable judgment and has us flying all over the place for nice to have meetings and conferences to make it feel like we’re doing something important although it could easily be done over web conference. Now they need to take that directive one step further to address remote work and social distancing unless business imperative. Some of these mid level managers dont have the best judgment. They have to be told.

No travel but you still have to go into the office with 200 foreigners who don't wash their hands and brush their teeth on the sink.
