Anyone know what this is about? Are the doing away with certain job title?

I have had so many different jobs titles for doing the same thing. That is business analysis, computer system design, computer system development (programming), testing and deploy to production. It has been Programmer, Sr. Programmer, Systems Analyst, Sr. Systems Analyst, Internal Information Consultant, Programmer II, Software Engineer, Applications Systems Engineer, etc. Actually basically still doing the very same type of thing under all of these various different job titles.
They told us this on a recent episode of The Saul Variety Show Hour.
There are over 200 job titles in IT, and they want to narrow that down a might.
I wish they'd leave the deck chairs in place once in a awhile, there are more important things needing doing, but I guess it makes sense.
audit went through something similar. titles won’t be removed but they will be renamed. some people will have their title reduced due to lack of experience but will be expected to perform the same roles above their new title . this will make some leave . it seems like a way to lay off without actually laying off
