Yeah, as long as I get my employee $10 a month DirectTV, I'm good. Blow that pig up.
What I would have given to be on the conference call when the 30 year veteran Boeing engineer told Randall, Elliott and all those smart people in the C suite that the satellite was three years past its end of useful life. However; they would make minor modifications to the existing ones still in use by others to ensure this doesn’t happen again!! Bet the C’s were squirming in their seats. Hopefully Elliott was there two as the C suite wants to make a great impression. Not mention, they were probably being told that by an engineer who they consider way beneath them. This is beyond funny! I love it when know it alls get bitten in the butt!!
We’ll just shuttle out a premises tech, he’ll make a helper, and that helper will make a SRN for engineering. Ezpz.
Space isn't real so obviously there are no satellites and this is just a made up story to perpetuate the idea that there is such a thing as space. The only transmisson/receiving equipment that "satellite" TV runs on are the roof mounted dishes on the user's home and the ground based hubs. The hubs beam the signal up into the sky, which then deflects off of the top layer of the Earth's dome, which many believe to be what we are told is the "ionosphere".
This really isn't that big of a deal. These sorts of things happen to companies all the time. This story made me yawn.
sounds like a job for the space force.
Just AT&T laying off that satellite.
"Portfolio rationalization", and "efficiencies", and all that b—s—.
6 months severance and off to the outer orbit with you.
The final satellite launched in 2019 by AT&T named "T16" should last about 15 years. AT&T will most likely k–l DirecTV well before then.
This reminds me of an issue with a batteries going on fire at some Boeing 787 "Dreamliner" plane, when it was first released. Same manufacturer of this satellite.
Makes you wonder how old and dilapidated all the other DTV satellites are too. If they are anything like our rotting copper plant here on the ground, they are disasters waiting to happen.
Disaster always seems to follow T.... We all get what we deserve.
Why is this so funny to me?
It'll be like that scene from the movie Spies Like Us. Some teenagers will be watching DirecTV when the satellite blows up. Then their TV will explode in a shower of sparks.
“Don’t worry it’s just the backup satellite”
So T no longer has a back up plan and they aren’t planning anymore satellite launches and shutting down Uverse. Yep sounds about right.
I thought you weren't supposed to travel with lithium batteries!? :)
I guess Ratty might have to give up one of his corporate jets.
Nah, he will just whack another 1000 more people instead...
No surprise there satellite tv blows.
