For those that don't remember. the Venezuela aquisition cost T $4 billion writte down from the get go, due to rigged financials at the time, in addition AT&T hasn’t made money in Venezuela for years, due to strict government controls that keeps the price of its DirecTV packages artificially low around 15 U.S. cents per month.

Nonetheless, as the cheapest form of entertainment in a nation ravaged by hyperinflation, its market share remains DirecTV’s largest in the world. Why are we there?
