Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Why do people want to see HBO Max fail?

Why does it feel like people are cheering on HBO Max to fail? What will any of us lose if it becomes a success? And I can tell you what many can lose if it doesn't - their jobs!

I really wish people who worked here supported this company more, for their own good if nothing else...

You either come to work everyday wearing rose colored glasses or you haven’t been here long enough to be exposed to the rotted underbelly of att management.

Clarification....unions are a NECESSARY evil. They are corrupt as the company, with there ever changing way they interpret the contract for each situation. I’ve seen more back door deals cut by the union .....not a fan!!!

Don't, just pointing out that it will, Our society expects a company to succeed or fail on their own merit alone, Doers always win the day.
the ones who does, performs and executes efficiently. companies like Apple or Amazon that deploy products on the go, Unlike AT&T releases projects with years to be completed, a total ruse!

Don’t want it to fail. But then again there is reality. And the reality is AT&T has a poor track record of delivering new product, esp in new business lines. Then there is the competition. Disney, Apple, Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, and others. It seems unlikely it will be a massive success.

They can charge a high price because it will have exclusive content. Have you even looked at the list of programming? As long as the new content comes frequently enough, people won't unsubscribe. Less than 50 cents a day isn't ludicrous. The average cable bill is around $110. People have money, which you'd think you know, since you are overpaid.

Why? Because the leadership in this company, primarily Randall and Stanky, have ruined the company, have their employees live in daily fear and gave made nothing but bad decisions. I don’t necessarily want it to fail for my own good, but my bet is that it will. People switch streaming services frequently always based on price or to watch a specific show. If they want a certain show on HBO, they will switch to it for the duration of the season and then switch off. You cannot compete at the price they set for HBO Max, it’s ludicrous!

Thanks God AT&T CEO stopped using the world innovation, as he try to maintain contradictory positions, this fiasco will be evident pretty soon, so please, just tell us the truth. Will there be more layoffs or not?
still hasn't committed to a clear course of action and is always talking out of both sides of his mouth.

I think the real question is: why do you want to decimate and marginalize the most profitable portion of the company and dump that money into something that has a flashy name but no real profit margin compared to the margins on the core competency sector of the company ? Yes the one where your competition is going run circles around you in time to market now. It is all about the pipe. Problem is that doesnt build new silos...lol.

I think that once Ratty is pushed out, Stinky is pushed out, the Board of Misfit Directors is replaced, perhaps a new CEO might be brought in to fix Ratty's mess. Problem is, there will be a LOT more pain for us Grunts still left in the trenches. Look at how Immelt ruined GE and he sits on his private island counting his $.

It may be impossible to fix and T may end up in bankruptcy, or pieces sold off until whatever is left is bought up by another Telco.

Services will not be competitive for a long time. The damage is deep.

Because that's the culture T has created. You dedicate your working life to a company who treats you like utter garbage. What thanks do you get for being productive? NOTHING! You legit sell 10 "widgets" and Joey Fraud sells 100, with 99 being returned, Joey is considered the better employee. As a matter of fact, he'll probably get an all expense paid trip to anywhere to thank him. And in 6 months get escorted out o the building by security just for someone else to do the same thing if not more. You take this job to provide for yourself and your families. That's no way to live. That's why everyone wants to see it fail. It does well, upper management sees bonuses, peeons don't even get a thank you.

It’s not so much about wanting to see it fail then it is about knowing it will fail. What products in the last 10 years has AT&T released that has been a success?

Cuz T is rotten from inside out, and most of employees are damaged goods, due to the psychological phenomenon called “Corporate Stockholm Syndrome” is being observed more and more often in individuals who have experienced workplace trauma, and the concept is beginning to filter into the clinical awareness. This problem deserves some articulation.

@-udr, you’re right on the button. I started in '98, SBC, and I loved Whitacre. Even then we knew RS, an up and comer, would be Whitacre’s replacement, things were great. Everyone was proud of AT&T, Whitacre, and the fact that he was buying up all the right businesses and making the company grow and become stronger with a well-planned roadmap that made sense. Once RS took the reins, it's been a steady downhill spiral. And in all that, Stankey in the early 00's, starting with outsourcing entire departments, and systematic replacement of American IT workers, but not stopping there. What an utter mess we've landed.

You can tell how a company treats its employees (and customers) by their attitude towards the company. The fact that AT&T employees absolutely loathe their employer shows how toxic this place has become under the arrogant and incompetent leadership of Randall and Mr. Stanky.

This wasn't the case when Ed Whittaker was in charge. Employees were very proud of their company and gladly worked here for their entire working life. Now people just want to get the hell away from this place.

The same goes for all the companies the Ratt has acquired, from the Baby Bells to DTV to Time Warner. Worker morale in all these companies has gone from great to completely demoralized.

We should also notice that the customers of AT&T hate doing business with this company. Way to destroy everything great that the AT&T name once stood for Randall, you boob.

Supported it once got burned now go grow up and learn some life lessons. I hop people who are offered or thinking about working come to this site. Att reaps what they sow. They can go sell their products in Slovakia India or wherever they are exploiting labor these days.
