I think we can all agree 2019 was a complete disaster. Is there even a slight chance that 2020 will be somewhat better or will it just be more of the same?

Yes 2019 was a great year and 2020 will be better.
Right, just be happy you have a miserable job? To the id–t posting on here 2020 and beyond is going to be nothing but terrible. If it wasn’t bad enough already, these so called “leaders” are out there crowing about how many cuts they’re going to be making in the near future. If you think morale is bad now just wait.
We just finished one 3 year plan.
Now we are on the NEXT 3 year plan.
Upper management has decided that managers are not needed. Highly skilled craft employees will gain well deserved benefits and pay raises while managers are let go. If a manager can install or repair critical service they may be retained, if they are a dumb a– they will be fired.
More of the same, if not worse !
In February of 2020 - the Osprey OTT Self-Install Sooper Streamer will hit the streets which means no more pesky Prem Techs from DirecTV running around hanging big chunks of expensive tariffed made in China satellite dishes onto people roofs. No more vans to pay for, no more gas charges, no more buying rolls of coaxial cable - heck yes - things will be great - just UPS the Osprey to your Grandmother and she's up, running and streaming Dr. Phil in seconds!
2020 will be worse.

According to McPoppinFresh's last town hall, there is a 3 year plan so I don't expect anything to improve until then if ever. By that time, T will be an entertainment wireless metro fiber optic only company. Everything else will be sold, shut down, or retired in place managed by an elite group of SVPs run by Accenture and Tech Mahindra contractors with no benefits.
@-rrm, I've likened the state of AT&T at this point in the game, to simply rearranging the chairs on the Titanic, everyone losses, except for the captains who bug out on a special reserved lifeboat.

@-zip, darn good point, the question of will it be better in 2020, wasn't directed toward us grunts, it was directed toward the elitists. Yes indeed, Randy, Stankenstein, the Johns, and their assistants that give them BJ's under the desk are all going to keep laughing all the way to the bank, and have supreme golden years with the cushy golden parachute landing we've all worked so hard to given them. Uber Awesome (for them).
True, there is a fair amount of pressure, stress, and dysfunction. It’s a job.

~250K employees got paid. Many would say they were paid well; that’s what I say. I like my benefits, too. And it sure was a great year to be a shareholder.
When the music stops there will only be chairs left for those at the top!!

No one else matters. Not shareholders, not the grunt employees, and certainly not for any customers.
These staff reductions due to "surplus" are a joke and everyone's sitting by complacent.
Nearly every displaced employee gets their duties shuffled around for a few months and then new contractors arrive to do that same work.

Nope. It will be much more difficult of a year. We were told that when the MVO came out. If you don’t like it now then get out because things are going to be worse in 2020.
That would be a great big case of the nopes. We're still around ~250K, and they are going to get to ~200K employees. So I predict that each quarter throughout 2020 will be a giant blood bath. 2021, things should smooth out, presuming they hit their numbers in 2020, and I think they will, they are running with an iron fist on it now.
