Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Make all your employees scared. Is that really how you want to run a company?

what a way to run a company. no place is safe. what a joke. make all your employees scared.
is that really how you want to run a company? what is the point I really don't understand. does it really make the company run better? good job john and randy. I guess you have 3 years to plan your exit. wish you gave your employees the same amount of time.

Surplus and outsourced at any time every quarter of ever year after year. Worrying about not reaching Rule 75 before they unceremoniously throw me out the back door. My only hope was to survive all that to get a mere pittance of a MVO severance offer, that hasn't happened, yet. All that along with some of the worst human beings (Friends & Family, inbreed, click, good ole boys, insiders club) holding a L3+ position ruling with their special brand of twisted tyranny of doing everything that a manager should not. I'm still here, biding my time, counting the days and minutes till the Stankey machine roots me out."

To the OP, I would say (grudgingly) that we were given a warning in June 2015 by management. On the other side we just didn’t realize the extent of how it would all accelerate and play out! And I don’t believe even management originally thought of outsourcing back then, or how things would be today, but opportunity presented itself and they grabbed it and used it as a tool...’get outsourced, or take our generous offers of MVO’s when we give them.’

To @daa Punisher, as for the recent MVO, you’re right, "deep down inside" I was hoping for this offer, but that’s not how I wanted it to be, five years ago I was hoping for retirement the old fashioned way.
Very simply, I ran out of gas both mentally, physically and when I asked myself, “what’s the cost/benefits of hanging in?”
Over the last few years it was all building to this MVO, and like Yogi once said....”when you come to a fork in the road....take it!”

This is from the same guy that thinks he knows more about movies and tv than those that have been doing it their entire careers. Can you blame the schmuck for having such an inflated ego when he’s been riding Randall’s coat tails with no accountability for so long? Once they can Randall who’s balls is this guy goin to hang from anymore? The mans bald head must mean his hairs grew into his skull and must me ticking that lil brain of his to come off being such a stupid douche.

Use of the phrase "target-rich environment" in conjunction with future cost cutting (aka force reductions) is not only obnoxious, it indicates that the company leaders have not been doing their jobs of managing the business.

It’s a crazy work environment. It feels like they hire you and spend the rest of the time trying to find ways to get rid of you or make you quit.

Wow, thanks for the insight. I guess I thought they were more intelligent that they really are.
My bad.

“ Making people miserable is the how they are attempting to achieve this.”

You give the company way too much credit. They are not that smart of tactical. No , they make employees miserable completely by plain incompetence. They’ve been doing it long before the goal of reducing head count.

The drive is to reduce head count. Making people miserable is the how they are attempting to achieve this. How you currently feel, is all by design from upper management. It's obvious.

That is nothing new. Morale is low. Always the constant threat of lay-off.

It boosted Stinky's ego and made him feel a hell of a lot important which is the mantra he runs with.

Where have you been? Fear and intimidation has been the M O of management since the SBC takeover of Ameritech in 2000. We had “get your mind right” meeting in February of 2000 to let us know it was a new day with a new sheriff in town. First time I ever saw adult management scream at employees. The only solace is most of those managers were walked out over time. I smiled as each one departed.

They’ve wrecked morale. That’s not good for a company any size.
