Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoffs and more layoffs

Whether we have a contract or not , whether you are Leg T, SBC, BLS, DTV, TW inc, or whether surplus deciaration is here or not it does not matter. When I hired in 3 years ago my garage had about 110 prem techs. We were not affect d by the tech surplus and we are down below 40 prem techs now. They are thinning us out however they can.

We’ve had a watermark for the NTS job title for many years now. It was only until this previous contract agreed upon last summer that the union agreed to lower the watermark. Rest assured downsizing is a comin

Anyone have the Leg-T Surplus and VTP list, if it exist? Nothing on the CWA and Locals websites.

A contract that caps layoffs? Whoever successfully negotiated that is genius. Are you sure there aren’t other provisions about exceptions? Can’t imagine AT&T agreeing to cap layoffs.

26 legacy T switch and transport techs today, they got us all

the only company that lays off switch techs is at&t

most other carriers keep their switch techs

When I started with DTV we had 48 technicians and with support staff we were over 60 people employed (field sups clerks etc. ), now 17 techs and two sups and word(rumor) that my position is being eliminated. I have been "coached" 3 times in the last week for issues that seem created sole to cause me to be coached and have been dealing with a sudden need from my superior for me to be micromanaged. I thought I was being paranoid but it all seems to make sense now.

One location in Illinois had over 20 prem techs at their garage just a mere 3 months ago, the manager has fired or just flat out pushed all but 5 out. Food for thought

In Legacy T, the contract provides for minimum headcount numbers, and a cap on layoffs for the life of the contract.
