Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why I quit my job at Wells Fargo and filed with the EEOC

  1. My boss yelled at me and retaliated when I filed a HR complaint about gender discrimination and age discrimination, among other things. Worst job experience ever.
  2. HR did nothing to stop the abusive behavior or discrimination from my boss. Took over 6 months for HR to investigate and the investigation skimmed the surface. HR looks the other way and does what the executives want. I realized that nothing I did would fix things, and I couldn’t stay in a bad situation.
  3. When I went to my managers boss to explain what was happening, he defended my boss and made it clear that he didn’t believe me.
  4. I experienced a culture of fear, alienation, and marginalization, thereafter.
  5. My job duties were being centralized and I could get no clear direction on what I would be doing, if anything.
  6. There was very poor communication from my manager and from above. I was tired of cryptic messages and indirect communication. Dysfunction and chaos reigned. Those who complain are punished and marginalized.
  7. My peers were not team players and only cared about themselves. Backstabbing was a regular occurrence.
  8. I was tired of flex seating and trying to find a seat every other day. I want my own space.
  9. Banking is no longer a growing industry. There are better opportunities out there.
  10. All job opportunities within the firm were in hub locations. You are out of luck if you are not in one.
  11. I was tired of working morning, noon, night and weekends, and skipping lunch to keep up on my workload.
  12. Chainsaw Charlie is going to consolidate and cut jobs like he did at BNY Mellon. Going to be a bumpy ride in 2020 for those who stay on the wagon trail.
  13. Toxic jobs make people sick and no job is worth dying over.

HR is there to protect the company from litigation, END OF STORY.

So sorry you went through that. No excuse for that.

This: "HR looks the other way and does what the executives want." That's true of just about all HR departments, even more so at WF. They exist to serve execs and management - they do not support rank & file employees.

Try taking medical leave - there is no clear information on the HR website about what to do/how to do it, and good luck getting anyone on the phone. Pretty sure HR is mostly outsourced to a 3rd party that could not possibly care less about doing a sh!tty job.

I do hope enough good people stick around to help carry WF into the future, but the ol' Coach has got to do a better job of valuing their only real asset - their employees - because without good people, it's only going to continue to go downhill.

I filed a complaint with EEOC as well a few months ago for discrimination. I was a top performer in my department but that still didn't stop them from forcing me out.

HR is useless. Dealing with so many complaints and issues. All brought on because they did not hold execs and managers accountable for their id–tic actions to reduce. A Tech Risk EVP got rid of all the minorities on their leadership team and not a peep. Never performed mid years, cancelled 1:1 for several months then told folks it was performances based when they were hitting their goals. Useless executive that cares only to protect their paycheck.

Good for you to stick to your morals. I wish you well in your complaint filing. I know WF will just want to sweep it under the rug and offer you money and an agreement to keep quiet about it and just move on. That is how they roll. It is crazy how things work at WF. People that are not even qualified get manager jobs. It is all about who you know there. It has been going on for at least the 15 years I have been there.

I am working with people that have been here forever and offer no value, do not work but put in a time sheet . Then anyone new and younger like myself comes in and is a hard worker pays the price with the toxic cult.
They do the same exact thing for decades , never move or learn new things .

I personally would give all of them their pink slips and let them know not to return . They can bring down some other company.

Definitely agree with the culture of backstabbing and toxicity. I used to want to quit but then I looked again and see these people in same job for 20 years and have absolutely no skills or knowledge . I realized I am like the best of the worst If that means anything ? To tolerate the toxicity I have had to metal plate my brain to survive . I spend most of my day not speaking to these toxic people in the group .

DAMN!!!!!!!! I had no idea that I not only sleep walk but apparently I sleep post as well because I could have written this very item. Have been through every one of these and finally 9 months later got sick of HR's failure to investigate and they're gas lighting of me, so filed with EEOC, charging documents are about to be served.

Does anyone know how receptive our criminal employer is to dealing with the EEOC or do they just fire us once they get notice?

I know how you feel. To get jobs we need to know people. If we don’t know people in authority good talented folks are jobless.

In the midst of this some of us get a job then we have to put up with dishonest leadership for the sake of bringing their friends will sometimes make us look bad so that we can leave.

But Remember one thing. They might look happy now those who do such behavior but on the long run they will get justice in some shape or form.

Glad you left. It is your life and there is one chance in it. Good decision.

I even saw my manager break code of ethics by attending vendor parties and getting drunk. Now if I report that to HR they won’t care.

So I will let justice do it thing and leave it in the hands of Jesus.

More proof that there a ton of managers at Wells Fargo that need to be fired.

Good for you for refusing to put up with any more abuse, but still.....it’s just wrong that you were put in that position in the first place.

Hope your filing bears fruit.
