Instead of paying for sunday ticket and giving the customers what they want so they would maybe stay att customers - him and randy give themselves raises and is going to continue to let go many more employees. Looks like a clear plan to me.

It leads by fear, intimidation, power & control. It particularly dislikes workers. It's extinction came about when a massive wave of consciousness struck earth sometime in the early 2000's. I gotta say, this particular article, today, has really delivered me a devastating blow. It's hard enough to keep pushing myself through the work day, and this has taken the wind right out of my sails. Not sure if I can get back up tomorrow and actually accomplish anything, now that I have even more to worry about in the department of keeping a job. Late 50's, 20+ years, met rule 75, but want to work 10 more years, but no one will hire due to ageism. Every time Stankey surfaces, it's always bad news, starting in early '00's with him.

Cost cutting. Ya'll don;t have a clue. The first half of my 28 years working in the Ed Whitacare era were nothing but cost cutting, and demands to generate more cash. We won every year. Wireless kicked every other business's a–. We had 20% reduction goal every year.

@ -1cjz, you're right, around 2005, I think the first big outsource was Long Distance, Telegence-LD, and they were completely outsourced to Amdocs. One year later, most all AT&T employees that got outsourced, got let go from Amdocs. This was a Stankenstein move too. Not long after that, they started hitting other large areas of IT with on-shore and off-shore arrangements, further dismantling AT&T IT infrastructure, yet another Stank move.

Yahoo Finance article indicates Stephenson's 4% was in addition to the normal 6% that Stankey referred to.

Wow. Just wow. This guy leads with fear and intimidation and ALL the leadership has definitely taken that approach too to follow suit. No wonder Elliott has an issue with him - they better get rid of him sooner than later As well as passive aggressive Randl.

@ 1gyk. Six years try at least 15 years. They started outsourcing I know of at least 2005. It is a management tool because people like Stankey have no clue on how to manage.

Last time he did this he flattened organizations and put in motion moving people to either Dallas or El Segundo.

Stankey is a true sociopath. I've seen him get rid of a department with about a much care as pouring a cup of coffee. Who on earth would do more than the minimum necessary knowing that "no place is safe"?

Randall was smart & called out sick. Stank screwed the pooch on this interview. They'd be better off just letting Fresh Jeff handle all the PR stuff.

He is definitely exasperated by the outcome of all his plans.. plans in big head of his did not say this would s— all the air.... Once again the marketplace deciding on each of his failed obsessions and Stinky's proven strategy of blaming someone else. Which is really on display by every avp and above in every division of the company I have worked with.

Stankey said Disney+ is kids stuff... He’s afraid. AT&TTV is Directv minus the Sunday ticket and dish, still overpriced. HBOmax is great if you don’t have kids, kids drive the market. Deathstar will go down again and Disney owns the Death Star. Good luck AT&T! AT&T is only a puppet at this point.

Imagine being the President of a company and telling everyone that works for you that there is no safe place. Is he off his medication? Lost his mind? Nothing else makes sense. He thinks he’s appealing to investors? Ha! We are in the best economy our our lifetime and how is ATT doing? While everyone is hiring, they are completely decimating their workforce.

After 6 years of quarterly layoffs, when 2020 was the goal, they moved the goal post out three more years and told you, you can’t hide. Guess what?2020 is here, and you failed.

hey john how about giving the correct amount of pension buyouts to your employees so they don't have to waste time on a class action suit against att. no you would rather do creative accounting and be nothing but a glorified snake oil salesmen moving from one failed adventure to another instead of running a company with integrity and transparent accounting.

Hey john all I want from you and att is a big fat dumb pipe. you cannot even do that without tacking on all kinds of endless changing fees and raising prices to pay for your adventures that fail.

So please your job should be the one of the most unsafe places. but just keep doing what you are doing I am enjoying the show.

They are using Elliott as an excuse to announce that they are finally cutting jobs, making them look like the bad guy. Randall probably arranged a back room deal with them himself. More smoke and mirrors from the Death Star.

"No place is safe" except his. He's a punk. For ages, he and Randall bragged about the workforce needing training for 2016 and 2020 target dates. Paraphrasing, "this will give us the skills of the future." All that is hogwash now as they renege on what they said. This is the problem with T, the pay is great, but the leadership has become so fickle they're like lead in directions that are meaningless. I can hear them saying "Oh Yea, now, we really figured out what the right thing is to do. We don't know what we were talking about before. We must have been dreaming. But now, we're sure!" How many times can you say "BOGUS."

The moral of the story being, if you want job security either buttsuck your way up to a VP position or move to India.

If HBO MAX fails to attract subscribers then everyone from VP to CEO should be canned. At $15 dollars a shot you can guess the outcome.
