I hate the term “manager”, in so much that it suggests “people manager”. 80+ % of “managers” at T do not fall into that category. I prefer “non bargained”. Clears things up.

The only thing I ever learned during contingency planning training was how to take contingency planning training.

Why are you even posting about contingency assignments?? All the contracts have been ratified so who cares. Also, managers who work contingency assignments are not SCAB’s. That word is used to define “replacement” workers who were not originally employed by the company prior to a work stoppage. Managers with work assignments during an organized labor work stoppage are just that. Craft workers that cross the picket line are just that.

I had to fly to Dallas several years ago for contingency training. There was no other option. And it was on Valentines weekend.

The company paid for my plane tickets, two days in a hotel, rental car, and food. I got to sit through two days of training on how to climb a telephone pole and basic first aid.

I never had to use the training; the strike was called off.

To make it worse... a week or two after I git back from Dallas I got notification that at least some of the training id just travelled to Dallas to complete was available online. And it was mandatory for me to complete.

The contingency stuff is a complete joke.

The contingency planing is a joke. I did it as a manager a number of times. When the time came to 'use' that training, Months had passed. I had totally forgotten everything, so did my colleagues.

When the SE went on strike this year and we got called up to scab, we all waved at the Union folks in the pickets. We did that to show we supported you guys. Everyone I spoke with at the shop I went to all supported the union guys. We just had to report to the shop. Like another had posted, I’m a “manager” that manages no one. I’m just an office worker that has manager in my title.

Telecom infrastructure should be nationalized. Change my mind.

Got no problem crossing a picket line. Collective bargaining should be illegal

This company certainly doesn’t care about ethics. They care even less about the customers.

I'm in IT. They make us all "managers". I have zero reports. I'm just a salaried employee they faux call a "manager". I hate the contingency planning stuff. I hated the idea of crossing your picket lines. Calling me a manager is basically a fraud.

I am a 20 year union member technician. Any manager crossing a picket line is not a scab . They are just doing their job.

Then don't take a management position, easy as that
