No layoffs happened at my location for a while. Also, I haven't seen much talk about layoffs happening on this board lately. Could it really be that they slowed that process down during the holidays, or maybe they feel that they’re done with layoffs for this year? If any of this is correct, doles that mean that they are going to intensify cuts after the new year?

I've been with the Death Star since early '98, and from day one, it's been outsourcing, surplusing, and MVO's. There was a big one around 2000, real golden parachutes for L2's. Even had loads of stock options that were worth something, yes, for L2's. The only difference between now and then, is the escalation of the offing practice, it's obviously increased. For the last nearly 25 years, we have bought SNET, PacBell/NVBell, Ameritech, BellSouth, Cingular, ATT LD, ATT Wireless, failed T-Mo, DTV and TW, along with other smaller entities and with every purchase starting in '96, we never cleared out the excess, we simply got more and more bloated (too big to fail). Now, at zero hour, with 2020 vision goggles, they run amuk whacking everything and everyone, with the exception of the upper echelon.
That never stopped them in years past. I believe it was 2009 when we had a rather large surplus in December.
All of ATO has a MVO closing today , with an announced impending involuntary soon after if not enough volunteers. “Soon after” is subjective but strongly worded to seem like still in Dec.
Also, if you keep reading, there is another thread which mentions lay-off announcements expected sometime around Dec 16. Merry Christmas....
Entertainment Group, El Segundo, announced 12/2
Any word as to this month, December? And where?
Um ... McElf openly stated during today's town hall that there will be layoffs for at least the next three years.
