AT&T Inc. is looking to cut about 4 percent in labor costs, Chief Financial Officer John Stephens said Tuesday.
Amid a review of the operations, the Dallas-based company has been looking to find ways to curtail spending, Stephens said at an investor conference hosted by Wells Fargo.
“If you want to kind of put it in scope, our initial targets now are about a 4 percent cost reduction in what we call our labor costs,” he said, adding the savings would come next year.
Those costs include employees, contractors and benefits spending. In a regulatory filing, the company said that it employs about 252,000 persons without giving details on contractor numbers.
