When is 1Q 2020 Judgement Day?

Just checking in. I’m hearing some rumors of Dec. 15

The last time I was surplussed it was announce on 12/14. For union/craft that gets them off the payroll before the end of 1st qtr. I wouldn't be surprised to see something about that date again this year.

If like Q1 2019 timeline it was;

  • Notified in mid Jan
  • Option 1 (not looking for ATT job to lateral into) off payroll EOM Feb
  • Option 2 (trying to find an open ATT job to lateral into) off payroll EOM March if job not found

Based on the past, I would still look towards March unless there is a Re-Org. They don't seem to do layoffs when a reorg is happening. Assume the selections will be performance based (i.e. annual review rating) and notifications will go out in January to be off payroll by March 30th. The pattern is fairly common these days.

for my legacy T business group, the notices supposed to hit 2nd levels by 12/13 and off payroll by 12/31 to make Q1 headcount expenses look great, hearing 10% to 15% cut in my group. there will have to be a 3rd level gone because there's not enough L2s reporting to each L3 even today, let alone after 12/31 reductions.
