Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

3/22 VSP- how is it for those that stayed?

Left with 30 yrs. Getting lump sum at 0% PBGC. Will have to pay for 50% benefits but no longer stressed out by work or long (2 hours commute). Miss my coworkers but not VZ. How is life under VZ 2.0? Did they hire kids as replacements? PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL with replies.

I wouldn't say I regret taking the package, but I definitely miss Verizon. Was an awesome company to work for. I felt I saw the writing on the walls with the way they were laying off my department so I took the package. I still hope for the best for my fellow Verizoners.
Also, I don't see why people are so upset that some of us are looking on here. I had someone reach out to me regarding a position at my new company and I figured layoffs must be coming up again so I came to check. Mostly because I care about my friends still over there.

We all know the truth about all those who stayed. They are in hell. We where all wearing 8 hats and now the employees left, in the network, don’t even try to keep up with the ongoing massive outages. He bandwidth doesn’t support what is promised. System performance was dissolved and “more with less” has become laughable with all this it’s all “automated” bs. Justice is being served company with the worst corporate culture on the planet. Stay tuned.

You too should move on. The lump sum flyer says it all: no handout for you, but we would very much like you to leave on your own. Vamoose union trolls.

@12hpmhK5-5pef - a more interesting question is why you're here on a layoff site ? Maybe like someone who thinks their wife is faithful, but a gut feeling makes them snoop on their wife's phone/email so they can sleep at night..

@4jga (OP?), to quote you, "Tell me this: Who on earth..."
continues to troll a former employers layoff page taking potshots, and peddling the BS propaganda that they so need to believe, that the place is suffering without them. That's the actual fake news at play here.

You're like a pathetic former spouse who cannot wrap their mind around the fact that things are now better with you out of the picture. You feel the need to keep coming back here, akin to sitting outside your ex's house in a parked car, hoping, wishing, and praying to see things falling apart with the new, younger partner, and refusing to see the new positive reality. The company's moved on.

So should you.

Yes while I am "sitting at home shaking my trembling fist", you are sitting at work nervously chewing on your fingernails while serfing the Verizon Layoff page hoping for the next big buyout so you too can jump ship.

Tell me this: Who on earth says positive things about their employer on a layoff page? Go leave some fake reviews on Glassdoor vteamer and leave the BS propaganda off this page.

Nothing has changed in my group or who we work with except it takes longer to get responses.
They are doing all these nice surveys and they say everything is improving in the categories. They are somewhat rigging it though.
Only slightly exaggerated.
Survey 1: do know the spectrum used for 5g
Survey 2: is 5g theoretically faster than lte
Survey 3: do we sell cell phones.
Survey 4: is the name of the company you work for Verizon?
Great news we had an increase in people taking the survey and positive answers. Bonuses all around for the exec team.

Hell yeah, damn right I'm glad I stayed!
I didn't know such a turnaround, in so short a period of time, was possible.
We've come a long way in reinventing the dynamics, the mindset, the mission, under this new, decent, energetic CEO.
A breathe of fresh air. I cannot wait to see what better things tomorrow brings.
A weight's been lifted.

@3pys, wow, you're really sitting at home shaking your trembling fist at the powers that be, regretting your lot in life, and annoyed that the world's moved on smoothly since you transitioned?
Time for you to move on as well. Anger will consume you. Let it go.

Seems to me, it's possible the dissatisfied VSP-takers who, for some unknown reason keep returning here (trolling?), are hoping it got worse since they left but, alas, no. Smoother than ever, professionalism and respect everywhere. Buh, bye.

Who would have thought all the people denied the VSP would be responding?

I giess they are all here on the layoff board hoping to see the next handout rumor come to fruition.

" Did they hire kids as replacements? " - @12hpmhK5 (OP)

Yeah, and the kids are alright!
Things are running smoother than ever, and it's a better working environment than it's been since the 90's.

Enjoy your retirement. I wish you well.

Happy to be here, rather than struggling for lesser employment. The company is in a new, better, direction than it was a year ago. Fresh ideas. Good people. Refreshing. Exciting.

I'm glad I stayed, the offer was tempting, but I'm still a couple of years away from 30. Yes, the job is stressful but honest, I feel like it's part of the deal & I'm compensated well for it. Big thing for me too, I just didn't want to start over new someplace else if I didn't have to.

Lots of hiring AND promotions going on. Don't know what areas or what age groups though. They will not come close to replacing 10,000 employees, nor do they want to.
