Or can we expect the final massive wave of layoffs for this year during December? Can we feel just a little safer during holiday times or is that just wishful thinking?

It is expected a thirty percent reduction in management positions as a cost savings 15 December 2019. All work will still be performed without said employees.
If there is a voluntary offer out there now. You can expect an involuntary offer in late January, just like last year.

T wants to have something good to put on the annual report and say at the shareholders meeting in April And they want the 1st Qtr to be clean as possible for after that. But they also have to reorg after they figure who is left. Plus there's the possibility of selling off parts of the company. And then there's the outsourcing and IT cloud agreements with IBM and Microsoft reducing internal support.
I expect ATO to have an involuntary surplus announced in December. Likely the same “2 weeks off payroll” if you don’t look for an internal job (so Dec 30, same as MVO) , or 6 weeks if you choose to look in careerpath.

Don't expect any notices until after the first of the year. Lots of folks off the payroll Dec. 31st from previous notices and offers.

December 15 for craft. The accelerated downturn in work is not entirely organic. It is largely due to customer neglect.
Wishful thinking imo they love doing it during the holidays. Probably think it teaches everyone a lesson and they should be thankful they have a job.
Companies will do what they need to do to make the financial numbers - since the shareholders control the company and the execs want their end of year bonus. Who cares about the little guys that do most of the work - happy holidays!
