I know we all have it rough right now, but there's gotta be something. I'm personally thankful for my coworkers. I guess I got lucky and I'm working with the greatest bunch of people. Even if everything else is going from bad to worse, at least we are going through it together. How about the rest of you?

If you are not in LDP it is like being on double secret probation until they’ve used you all up
@-8lpx, not sure if Stankey was, but I personally know his daughter was in the LDP, as about 6-7 years ago I worked around her and lots of others that were also all LDP'rs. All of them, are now AVP, VP, SVP, and Presidents. Many were related, relatives or a family friend. As well as, strangely enough, graduates from SMU.
In my 23+ years with the company, I have had to learn to live with the constant threat of union strikes, being assigned one or more CP duties year round year after year. In addition, I have also has to live with the idea that I could be surplused or outsourced at any moment, poof, out of the streets. With all that, I've had 31 different managers, 80% were simply worthless, with five being truly horrible with maybe less than 10% being a true, genuine quality manager. So nearly a quarter of a century of being saddled with CP duty, constant threat of being instantly terminated, along with absolute $h1t management, I think I have PTSD.
Funny about the connected people. Every time I have a disappointing interaction with a director or an AVP, I search for their ATTUID on tspace. 5 out of 6 times they were in the LDP, and/or are the child or relative of an executive. I especially love the piquant combination of ignorance and arrogance.

@-3toe, yes indeed. If you are not a chosen one, or related/relative, you are out. You will not move up, you will not get promoted, you will never be a L3+, rare will you see a bump in pay. Anyone reading this, and has worked any length of time at the Death Star, whether the sheltered or us peasants, sees and knows this cold hard fact all too well. The only real thing that the chosen ones and the inbreed privileged know is how to use the A&D/Amplify against you, like a weapon, to keep you down and powerless. Lately, I have spent a lot of time going through WebPhone, checking to see who has left, it's always the peasants, and never the elites with their huge salary and big bonuses and special percs denied to us.
Being a "junior" employee in my rating with 19+ years with BellSouth then AT&T, I've been looking over my shoulder the whole time. I am thankful for my pay and benefits over these years but it's not a good way to live with the ever-looming surpluses. It's been a stressful time.
Just hoping to make it to 20 years so I'll have my "75" (age+service) and I can at least leave with benefits.
You know that paycheck is gonna cash every time. Layoff process & severance is actually pretty good compared to other industries.
They also pay people to quit. So, find a few other jobs that pays better. String them out on start date until the next voluntary offfer then make it rain.

Yep thankful that I worked hard and got a raise and promotion along with a bigger bonus something I didn't get at att because I wasn't a chosen one or related to someone. So yes thankful I no longer work at the cesspool called att.

Of course there is - just deposited 28 hundred bucks on payday. Sure, I work 60 hours a week to cover the laid offs and the quitters but I still get to drive all over two counties, get a lot of shopping done, and in between, hook up another clueless oldfart to another bloated DirecTV account.

Boy these people are blocking any ply from an att up. That’s stupid. Done they know some of the ips are non att Employees? Anyway my .02. I’m thankful many of the posters here are former employees. They are too negative. I’m thankful I still have a job. Sure I hate the constant up and down due to layoffs. But I make good salary and have decent benefits.
