Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Definitely no need for job cuts whatsoever

The company is making money hand over fist and there is no economic need for workforce reductions. Instead what we have is deliberate off shoring and contracting out of work like some sort of a globalist cabal. Isn't capitalism great?

Corporations have no loyalty to the American worker. As Stankey said several years ago - "Employees are fungible." Dictionary.com definition: "Being of such nature or kind as to be freely exchangeable or replaceable..."

So we put money into copper landlines because wireless is making a profit.

The company is only turning a profit because of revenue from TW. The rest of the business is declining fast. Verizon has a better network, even in the era of Firstnet. Tmobile has better pricing, even before the free Netflix is included.

5G is going to eat ATT's lunch on home and business internet. A friend was bragging about their ATT 5Ge service, until I ran a speed test on my Tmobile 4G LTE that beat their 5Ge speed hands down. Will there be more Layoffs? Yes, of course they will.

Globalists cabal is a great way to put it.

Its not capitalisms fault. It is society’s fault for what they will tolerate from corporations in return for a cheaper price. How many people hate the business practices of walmart but have a full cart in the self checkout lane every week?

once again this site is a comedy show. $180B in debt is an issue, especially with free cash flow moving in the wrong direction. paying a hefty dividend and servicing debt with dying businesses is not a plan.

i do agree the low rate environment helps randy's cause, but at $40/share the yield isnt worth the risk, folks will and have left the stock after the BS pump. $32.5/share is where is headed. And, then...after the streaming strategy blows up...is write-downs and blow up

The cuts are not about debt reduction, they are about stock buybacks. Debt is something they have to just show they are reducing in some way to sway investors. Stock buybacks are what keeps the stock afloat or heading up. Stock buybacks benefits the executives. Debt reduction doesn’t really chang anything but convince stock buyers to not sell their stock. AT&T does not have a debt problem, interest rates are extremely low.

$180B in debt and now the #3 carrier with additional losses on the way. tmobile has netflix, verizon has disney.....and att has .....drumroll......hbo/dtv. i left for verizon and have 0 att services now. it's amazing how this company gets people to just hate it. and i do after 30 years of service and it's not me, it's the company.

and, the streaming strategy, is a loser at $15/month. I wouldnt pay for HBO period. as usual, randy bought TW at the high, GOT is over and the last season they mailed it in with a horrible season.

This company is a walking disaster, period.

Yes, capitalism is great! It is what provided all those jobs in the first place. Greed however, is not.
