TFS is no longer. TFS and IEFS were merged in October and became AFO (AT&T Field Operations). The remodeled organization covers a lot of different work functions both inside and outside. As far as “Outside” tech jobs, it covers a wide range to include: Local exchange cable maintenance (copper and fiber), air pressure/pneumatics, POTS & Legacy ATM DSL installation and maintenance, U-Verse and GPON I&M and all DirecTV services. “Inside” tech jobs include Central Office-4 wall and CO power. AFO-Business is a wholly separate department within AFO up to the VP level and includes: Complex CPE, Managed Services, Specials (transport), Retail Business broadband and GPON. Additionally, all DEG (Digital Electronics Group) work functions currently residing in C&E-Wireline Access (Construction & Engineering) will be migrating to AFO-Business on or around 1/1/2020. That was also announced in October.
Management and some areas being outsourced
restructuring incoming - lots more work for those left
Pushing some out the door, some will be sent to "new" company
TFS is outside technicians. Is this rumor for the surplus to be announced on 12/15 or 3/15? We are heading there will be the same surplus in Florida.
Yep gotta keep moving the ones that have been there a while and have benefits out and hire new folks so we can do the same to them. Both craft and management doesn’t matter who.
Outside technicians?
