Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What's your New Year's resolution?

Mine is to leave AT&T before 2020 is over - be it for a new job or being laid off with severance, either will do.

How about save all my available annual goals/accomplishments to PDF on a thumbdrive. Grab my most recent resume. Research commercial resume services in my area. Get my resume professionally updated. Maybe make a LinkedIn profile. Update the resume posted to Monster/Dice/InDeed profiles. See what's available just in case.

"I consider att a traitor to the United States and can go move their headquarters to prune or some other country they outsource too. They think they can judge talent which is a total joke. "
Yes letting a foreign power/inlelligence agency have access to our innermost networks is "treasonous". Letting foreign call centers access our network is stupid.

They don't want people with talent; it would make themselves look bad.

Best scenario for me is lay-off with severance and a new job. I won’t volunteer as long as they continue to offer standard severance. After a couple decades I make good dough and have a ton of PTO...and while the culture is toxic, the work itself isn’t bad. I’ll welcome the opportunity when it comes in the form of surplus, but won’t volunteer until they make a real offer. If it topped at a year, I’d probably hit the bricks. I know it’s not happening, so I’ll stay. Zippidydoodah

I would like to add a comment regarding learning in hope to be recognized at this company. In 2014, AT&T was promoting different study programs available at T University, such as discounted online Masters in Computer Science degree program at GeTech, and also at some other college. Sometime in 2018 I received an email from undisclosed sender, that the company doesn't care if somebody studies to be promoted, and rather to take the degree elsewhere. I was surplussed in January last year.

I plan on being out of this mismanaged joke of a business and getting on with my life within the next 6 months. I'm hoping they make a severance offer in that time, but I'm moving on regardless.

Buh bye Stanky and the Rat!

What a great company people actually just waiting around to be asked to leave and the rest of you just showing up all zombies not caring - you all need to get a life and get reprogrammed. There are actually people out there that passionate about their job and enjoy doing it lol.

Y'all are grown adults and are acting like babies. Just leave already. Go whine about some other company because you know you won't change your ways and will continue to just be a big cry baby about not getting this or that.

Are any of y'all even grateful for what you have right now???? So sad.

14 Years in ATO. The last 5-6 years have been overshadowed with the risk of layoffs, but you know what? I don't whine and complain. You know why I don't? Because no one cares and it doesn't help or change the situation.

The writing has been on the wall for YEARS. If you haven't prepared mentally, financially or from an educational standpoint you have no one to blame but yourself for a layoff you only have yourself to blame.

Am I fully prepared for a layoff? Not as much as I should be, but I'll land on my feet and find something else if I am not able to dodge the axe.

Am I p-ss-d or angry at AT&T? Nope. Why would I be? We are not married and I owe them nothing but my daily responsibilities and they owe me nothing but a paycheck. I do my job and they pay me for that work with full realization that the rug might be pulled out from under me at anytime.

My resolution is to keep doing what I'm doing. Save a little more and keep doing my job. I'll stay until they no longer need my services or leave when I find something new. Life is too short to stress so much.

Just leave already!!! It’s funny you don’t realize you’re the toxic ones! Complain, whine, rinse, and repeat. You’ll do this at your next job.

After over 20 years, I'm looking forward to being Surplus or MVO'd, not re-badged. If it doesn't come from them, then I'll leave on my own with no severance and no unemployment insurance benefits. From the very first day of starting employment, within the first half hour of getting onboard, and being constantly treated like excrement by a consulting companies and the various 35 managers I've had over the years. Always held down, worked to death, dealing with non-stop ridiculous requests and changes, all awhile being told "You Matter". I'm ready to get out and put this place in my rear-view mirror. I can’t believe that I’ve stayed here for as I have, and now I’m locked in, but with no golden hand-cuffs.

  1. SHUTUP! If it’s not your concern, then don’t concern yourself.
  2. Don’t answer questions that have not been asked. If YOU bring it up, you’ll have to fix it. Refer to bullet #1 if you have trouble with this one.
  3. Don’t get bent about fire drills/problems/issues/whatever if they are not 100% within your control.
Reminder: An emergency on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

Just waiting for the severance package. Voluntary, or involuntary - I'll take it either way. Looking forward to the day when the years of my life consumed by this toxic parasite are only a fading memory.

My resolution is to still come to this board in hope that people considering employment with att wil run far away. I never recommend att to any college graduate. I consider att a traitor to the United States and can go move their headquarters to prune or some other country they outsource too. They think they can judge talent which is a total joke.
