Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Job security

Folks here are so funny, bemoaning lack of job security as if other people have it better. Wake up! Look around this board and you'll see that it's the same thing everywhere. You think Verizon is better? Don't make me laugh. Any of our smaller competitors? Nope. But hey, if you think you can do better someplace else go ahead! We will not miss you.

There’s no job security in Defense either. I went that route after my lay-off thinking I’d stay in Defense until I retired. I’ve had three jobs in a year. This first one gave me notice on my 89th day on the job because they lost the contract they hired me for, the second one laid me off after 8 months because they walked away from a proposal worth billions of dollars and now this third one is supposed to last to April 2021 so we see how this works out. Now granted, my pay and benefits are sweet but who wants to be looking for a job every 4 months or so.

Lol the asset management paid company defenders are a joke and I am perfectly happy where I work and I am working on cloud stuff. Maybe you paid company defenders should look in the mirror.

There are more companies not on this board than are on it. I just advise people to come to this board before taking a job anywhere as I did. I especially tell them to run away from att and hope they read all the posts on att. How people get on here and defend the company have to be asset management trolls who are getting paid to protect the att brand which speaks volumes.

So instead of fighting for a better world we should give up and do nothing? Not everybody wants to stick their head back under their manager's desk you corporate troll.

You have to work for the government to be safe. They may furlough, but they don't lay off.

Job security is unstable in the telecommunications industry. And in very large organizations like GE. In some other industries and midsized organizations it isn't quite so bad.
