Historically when there is any kind of management force reduction whether voluntary or involuntary, it has been heavily skewed toward L1-2. With Elliot having considerable input does anyone know the approximate reduction to date in L3-6? My guess is higher than in the past and will be higher going forward into 2020.

I just looked and I'm 10 levels from Randall. I'm a field tech for Mobility. More rungs on that ladder than the one I have.
Anybody above you who gets laid off can just commandeer YOUR job, so the actual job losses will always be at the L1/L2 levels, with those above griping about their demotions.
With span of control as it is L1/2 will always be hit harder than L3/4 or higher. Approximately 15 L1s equals 1 L2, 100+ L1s equals 1 L3, 800+ L1s equals L4... etc. So L1s always get hit the worst.
"Sounds like a good many L3/L4s have been looking after you. You should thank them." I'll take this as a joke, because no one looks out for anyone else in this company. Most especially anyone in the L3/L4 ranks. They are completely consumed with saving their own bacon, and will not hesitate to throw any one of their underlings under the layoff bus in saving their own skin.
@-hta, by not being a family, friend, inner elite clique circle or LDP. There are an overwhelming number of L2's that are here, stuck her just like me for the same reasons. If I did want to go to L3 or even higher, I would have been re-org'd out, as climbing the ladder and not being family, friend or inner clique, is not allowed. I've witnessed over many years, several work friends who did rise, only to get busted down, re-org'd out, or placed on special projects with no reports, while a family, friend or inner clique including an elite LDP'r took their position.
“perc’s” or “perks”? “that real L2 works of the company do not get”? How did you make it to L2... and stay there all these years? Sounds like a good many L3/L4s have been looking after you. You should thank them.
I used to be 5, then later 6, now 9 layers from Randy, and I'be been a L2 all these decades. So in answer to the question, I can only hope and pray for a great reduction in L3-6, there are too many layers, and too many managers within each layer, and they provide nothing other than fancy title, and a fat paycheck with benefits and perc's that real L2 works of the company do not get.

Eventually it will have to be because their will be fewer and fewer l1 and l2. Att will end up eating its own eventually. They will alienate their customers so much people will just drop att. Good time to be a competitor all you have to do is let att treat their customers like they do and the customers will come running away and treat them nice the customers will think they are in heaven.
Doubt it. If anything they need more l3 and above to manage all the off shore resources they have “invested@ in. This is what all the layoffs and 2020 plan is really all about.
Don’t want to see (exception of a few) people lose their jobs but AT&T has too many layers of upper management. I now have nine levels between Randall & I, I’m an outside technician.
