Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Have there been any improvements?

I left a year ago, have things improved or worsened since then?

I'll be completely honest, I couldn't wait to leave AT&T then but the company I'm with now has much of the same issues I was trying to get away from in the first place.

I'm now trying to figure out if I made a huge mistake.

If you just swapped one cable/telephone company for another, yes, you made a huge mistake, especially if you walked away without anything other than a check for unused vacation time.

Yes, we replaced a lot of bad buried cable sections, closed a lot of taped openings, buzzed off all of our lead cable, swapped out damaged peds, cranked up our cell coverage, and hired the friendliest, most competent, clear English speaking call center reps.

Do you feel at your new job, “job security” restarts every 3 months, due to continued—-possible surplus and/or outsourcing?

it definitely has not improved around here.

Unfortunately, AT&T isn't the only sh!tty American company to work for. If you found one as bad as AT&T it's time to move on again and try to find one of the good employers. Just don't make the mistake of ever wanting to come back to this c-aphole.

Grass isn't always greener on the other side. Big companies all have the same political issues.

@-kki, did you move to a business that is in the same line of work, not, say IT, but Telecommunications?

OP, it's gotten a lot worse over the last 1 year, and 2020 is slated to be a real bloodbath of which we've never seen before. Sorry to hear that where you went is no better than what you left. I have had that impression, and is why I'm still here, and am considering retiring next year, and only looking to do something light weight like teaching, and obviously not for the money.

Wow sorry to hear that I would leave your current place ASAP. I left years ago and at my second place and haven’t heard the word surplus or lay-off since I left. Both places are light years ahead of att.
