@1tvo: still a pension for craft , but it isn’t anything great . I guess you can’t complain about getting around $32,000 for nothing , but it is a small pension

I left too! Can certainly understand the OP’s sentiment.
The job did what it was supposed to do, and for that I’m grateful. Raised a family, retired early. Perfect.
Sadly, once it became bell Atlantic it also became just a job. By the time it became Verizon, it also became just a waiting game to leave.
Been off payroll since 12/21 ( with 48 hrs notice from Verizon) On 12/28 received a letter from Verizon saying I was selected for retirement. Really.
Classless company. Completely Classless.

@1umn Maybe not for you. Management pensions were frozen some years back, but my lump sum for January was still pretty significant. Associates hired prior to a certain year also enjoy a pension. So don't say there is no pension.

Your argument is flawed @12ImN2YB-rrd. Medicare kicks in at 65, no matter your income, or younger if you're disabled.

@rrd, you make a very persuasive argument for a more European-like health-care system, or that of some Asian nations.

@12ImN2YB-rrd You do know, that as a red shirt, our Cadillac benefits are available at a minimal cost, and we’ll be ok!!

$2.2 million at 4% is $88k a year. If you can't live off that you are dumb.

You do know heath insurance goes up up and up as you get older older older. If you're 54, you still have another 30+ or so years to live. $2.2 Million isn't enough these days.

That’s true! They pay new hires terribly, can probably replace me with 3.
Best of luck to them!

What's so funny? You leaving just opened up two positions for college graduates or H1B visa person. Now that's funny!
