Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Which companies would buy At&t

The list of companies that could afford to buy At&t are short , I’m sure, but a better question may be why would any company buy At&t even if they could afford it. Would amazon , google or Apple consider buying At&t ? Why ? This is just meant as an open discussion and to hear opinions.

Why would any healthy and wealthy enough company want to buy our ship, which is on fire and has a hole in the bottom? By not buying the likes of us. That's how they stay healthy and wealthy, by not making poor decisions and letting elitists like Randy sail the ship into the rocks, or let Stankey runamuk through the china shop. We are in need or more than a little face lift, nip and tuck, we're a basket case.

Silly question regarding the whole company - however the legacy wire line business will likely be sold - John Stankey as much indicated that in the last analyst meeting. My guess is a sale to a venture capital company - all the smaller LECs have too much debt already and could not come up with the cash which is the only thing T will accept in order to pay off debt.

This scenario does not bode well for wireline employees outside of Dallas. Any VC acquirer will cut expenses with employee salary being low hanging fruit. Overhead will be cut first with only a small HQ staff remaining. They will manage for cash flow to pay down the debt incurred in the acquisition. Maybe D Fete departure is related to this - not good for Jersey.

A Chinese company or other foreign backed vulture capital company could pull it off.

AT&T isn't failing anytime soon. Thanks for playing though.

Wireline regulatory obligations render the company unsellable without a spin-off of legacy network assets, which the government is unlikely to allow.

AT&T is too big to fail, its part of the critical national infrastructure, and with only 3/4 major telco's in the US with AT&T being one of them it probably falls under some sort of national security concern so n one is going to "Buy" it..

AT&T like any old guard company simply has too much legacy baggage to ever move very fast, couple that with strict regulatory environment and you have today's company.

do what everyone is is doing, milt the cow until there's no more milk for you..

AT&T would not be a target due to their business lines.. No one company out there needs this business. And a company that's been around for well over 100 years, will do just fine by itself.

Att won’t sell as a whole. Amazon, google, and some smaller companies have shown interest in the fiber in some areas. Directv could easily be divested separately. It’s content could sell as a whole, but AT&T would likely hold onto that and it’s mobile/5g network as well as its first net network.

They are struggling to get their current fiber build moved under its first net operations and may end up selling it in pieces.

Don’t think anyone would want to buy it. Google might for all the fiber but I think Centurylink would be a better deal for fiber. Only thing any company would want from att is wireless spectrum. They wouldn’t really want anything else except maybe fiber but I think other companies have more fiber.
Definitely would not be buying it for the name lol.

At this point the only companies interested in AT&T are the vultures like Elliot Management. Smart money knows this is a dying company with no future. Only vultures would be interested in picking the meat off what's left of this organization.

I'm sure they'd unload it like they do employees. A little here, a little there. Sell it in pieces.

Maybe one day Apple would consider it now that they are getting into the movie and tv making business. It was reported that they were interested in buying time warner l before att snatched it up. It’s also been reported Apple has considered creating its own wireless network. I think Apple buying att is slim to none but I see them as the most likely candidate. They could certainly afford it. They could pay all cash for att and still have billions left over.
