Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Retail destroying itself

Authorized retail is now selling more than the retail stores.

My store manager is forced to go train the AR stores that aren’t already better than us. My old Area Manager is being forced to support them Full time .

He said the reps there don’t complain as much as our reps, and care more about the AT&T than our own employees do.

Why is this happening? Not too long ago, the corporate stores did 10x the production of AR stores. Now everyone I know just goes around saying AR is shady, and then uses some random “this one time they did such-and-such to a customer” example, instead of facing the music. If we don’t stop the bleeding, we are going to all be out of jobs.

What has taken place in the last few years that has caused so many of us to just waive the white flag to AR?

How is retail destroying itself? COR stores are purposely understaffed and expected to over deliver. In GLA the hard asses that have been assigned to run these stores love the indirect side because they are non unionized, not that the union does sh– anyway.. if they did we wouldn’t be in this predicament. The only thing the union focuses on is getting attendance points grieved.. and to most reps that’s good enough. No idea how/why COR is still around.

Both COR and AR are shady AF. COR is usually the ones who creates the scams to blow numbers out of proportion. Then ARSMs on the COR side teach ARSMs on the AR side how to do it. AR's are expected to hit numbers that COR hits which are usually through scams. Look at the DTV Now class action lawsuit. I didn't see a single AR mentioned. So to whoever is on the COR side, get down off your high horse and agree we both represent the same S2@#ty A$$ company. Love when ever there is someone tooting their own horns because they sold a DTV. Congrats, you just sold something that 5 million people disconnected from in the past 4 years. Enjoy the customer coming back to complain about their horrible service. That's even if it gets installed.
I've seen AR reps do things that would make Bernie Madoff and Charles Ponzi seem like they have a conscience. But I've also seen an equal if not more amount of fraud through COR.
The company wants to cut costs so switching to AR is the way. Love it or hate it, it's on.

@rrb- being lazy has nothing to do with COR reps not selling DTV, CUSTOMERS DONT WANT DTV! At least, not in Boston. We have hardly any traffic these days as well. Don’t speak to what you know nothing about. I have nothing against AR, they’re doing their job, just like the rest of us. Not our fault we have expensive, satellite TV, no internet to offer, subcontractors who no show when we do schedule installs, and horrible leadership. We know AR is the future for retail, at least I do. I mean..good luck to the customers is all I have to say.

Those AR stats may be for your area, but around here AR is a joke. They all closed. Another one opened, and closed less than a year later. People come in our COR store and ask us upfront, " are you corporate " ? And when we say yes, they are totally relieved. Every single time. AR slings mud at the wall in hopes that it will stick. Day in, Day out. They never help people with simple tasks ; they always go for the easy sale. We use to love to get AR problems and turn them into sales that benefit the customer and the sales reps. One can always find a happy medium - you just gotta use your friggin brain.

Blame your IHX friends. All that the In Home Experts do is give away free phones. They give the customer extra credits and all free phone's. All so that they can switch over and 2 years later go back to their old provider with a good trade in phone.

Those of us who work in the field and actually deal with the customer (as opposed to clueless executives who look at spread sheets) receive so many complaints about the lies, customers being sold things they didn't order or not receiving what they did order and outright fraud from the customers we interact with.

This is NOT the way to keep happy customers and run a successful business. Businesses that forget their customers and their ethics to achieve short sighted profit goals FAIL in the long term.

Labor unions only work when the company they are fighting has no other labor option.

If the company has another option, the labor union will slowly drive that company to those option with their demands, cost, and attitudes.

Detroit is an entire city that fell victim to labor unions. Learn from others mistakes.

Refusing to admit there is a problem will not fix the problem.

Of course COR does more volume of sales than AR. COR has much higher traffic, but sales per traffic is higher in AR. So if AR had the traffic COR has, they would sell more than COR does to that same traffic.

COR disconnects are higher than AR. This is because AR reps will get fired for fraud right away, while COR reps keep activating and flipping all day. No punishment for being shady since the union will fight you. Lol

The union keeps everyone believing that AR is a joke, while AR is the one laughing, as they open new stores right next to COR, taking COR traffic with them.

Keep believing what your being told by your stewards. Its going to backfire. Keep refusing to sell and believing that everything AR does is all fraud. All you are doing is making AR look better and better to upper leadership.

Meanwhile techs keep getting losing their jobs since COR reps are too lazy to sell TV to all that traffic they have walking in. Then techs waltz in to defend those lazy, lay-off-causing reps for grievances, continuing the cycle. AR doesn’t have to fight to get rid of lazy reps. It amazes me that the techs are too blind to see that they are the ones fighting to keep people around that drive more tech layoffs. More tv sales = more installs = more techs.

Wake up. I did. AR is the best move I ever made.

Fraud is for sure OMFG! I had one where the AR conned this lady into a 2nd internet business account for her home when she already had a residential internet account with us, and she told them this. They told her the business line would be faster but it was half the speed! And didn’t even bother to mentioning to her might need to cancel the other one so you won’t have two internet bills, but then she’ll be subject to ETFs!

Oh of course naturally in addition the huge upfront costs for upgrading her phones that day in the conn shop weren’t disclosed.

It’s a reoccurring theme. These people don’t work for the company and could care less!
