“No Limit” confirmed by Org VP

Today Chris Altomari (FaST: Field and Service Transformation and DOC: Dispatch Optimization Center) conducted his quarterly “open mic” webex conference call and he confirmed that:

  • there will be no limit on mvo volunteers, all will receive voluntary severance if they so choose
  • backfilling will be considered for certain positions
  • metering (aka staying later than off payroll days) may be an option for positions with high impact to allow for a “skills” transfer to the person who backfills the position but only applies if the person taking the mvo agrees

One last point: there was a question on the call regarding whole teams taking mvo which makes me wonder how many teams in the organization are actively planning a mass exodus and if that happens what negative impacts it will have on the business.

Why would there be a limit? We all know where the backfills are going to be located.

It’s shocking to me that entire teams are contemplating leaving ATT.

I can’t imagine how not only December is going to be, but January and the following months.

For the March 2015 MVO, 10,000 employees received the offer; 3,000 is the amount said to have left. Sounds similar. They are willing to struggle to reduce the headcount. Also T reduces it's exposure to long-term administrative costs keeping you in the pension which is a win for them.
