I can't figure out why AT&T doesn't even try to keep some of our best people - and not just those with experience, I'm talking about the few new hires who actually know what they're doing.
It's crazy how much those on top are ready to pay some great people who've been here for a long while to leave and not pay anything to keep any of the new talent before they are off to our competition.
This spells disaster in the long run.
I don't feel pushed. None of my peers want me to leave. Boss doesn't want me to leave. But, my kid's college fund wants me to leave. I'm not going to a competitor, or T contractor; different industry.
Seems like a bizarre way to send me off though. Now there's nobody under 50 in the group.

This is one of the reasons why Randall and other CEO's makes sure that acquisition leadership are the first to go.

The nemesis of craft jobs is a union that protects those who don’t want to work, but, plug into there inner circle. On the management side....it was always a s— up system....also the erroneous mindset that anyone can do the job that has a college degree!, despite not having a clue about the business!

BOTTOM LINE - there is no work, no budgets for new initiatives, only sustainment activity is occurring. Mobility business is DOA since randy created the new Tmobile.

Trust the PLAN. Randall announced a three year plan. He has an excellent track record of executing his plans. Patience Grasshopper.
The lack of talent is at the very top. All Randall and team , including the board , know how to do is mergers and acquisitions along with the big banks. You have to understand this is where the money is for Randall and the board and the banks. They make themselves huge bonuses and payouts in these transactions. Then they will all retire with millions shortly after they’ve milked all the value out of this company. Randal and his team never came up through the ranks of operations. They know virtually nothing about the company they run because they came up thru finance departments. In other words , all they have talent for is bean counting. Nothing more. So of course they don’t care or understand the need to retain talent. They see talented employees as an expense. What they want to retain is yes men who agree with their poor decision making. This company s—s not because of its employees but because of the distain shown by the c-suite for its employees.
I left the company earlier this year. The world outside of ATT is much happier and healthier, let me tell you.
I got the Key Contributor Award 3 out fo the last 5 years. My reviews and performance were always very high and I had great relationships with everyone.
When I decided I could no longer handle the crazy and telecommuting ("collaboration") BS, I let me manager know I was looking elsewhere. He didn't try to stop me. In fact, he told me I didn't owe ATT any loyalty because they sure didn't feel any loyalty toward me.
When I did actually put in my notice, barely anyone noticed. No one said anything about "what can we do to keep you?,etc. Which made me realize either I wasn't as important/valuable as I'd thought, or, middle management is under pressure to cut payroll/positions at all costs.
Regardless, I'm glad I got out of there on my own terms, and I feel for those still in that crazy house. Get out if you can.
