Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

For those left at Wells

Many know the layoffs started last year about this time and individual groups have been letting people go in spurts. The amount of seasoned and talented bankers in Wholesale Banking that have been let go has been astonishing.

You may also know that many that leave Wells receive letters from the law department threatening legal action if they solicit clients or employees. The non solicit agreement lasts for one year. Those one year agreements are coming to an end. You will start to see an acceleration of clients leaving Wells Fargo for other banks.

The reason I point this out is that if you are still at Wells, the morale and your performance metrics will drop. I lived through a similar time years ago and it really $ucked being at Wells when the wheels came off. Not because of anything that’s your fault. But Wells has let some significant talent go that are anxious to get back at Wells for its short sighted decision to let so many bankers go. If you haven’t done so already, I’d encourage you to get your resume updated. Mainly because these bankers will also be able to solicit employees from Wells and it could be your ticket to a better job/bank.

I think that having Wells Fargo on your resume is only a blight if you have worked in one of the departments, or job positions, that were part of the scandals. If you do get an interview with another company then you can just state that you had nothing at all to do with the scandals and had no idea they were occurring at Wells Fargo.

Wells Fargo is absolutely a blight on your resume. I have had to talk against the company in interviews so the hiring manager does not think I was part of the WF culture. It works and they totally get it.

Can confirm WF is a blight on resume. Truth be told is was an open secrete long before the revaluations but even more so now.

I might also note these facts and opinions. You will be let go based on the following:

  1. Long tenure (60% of all new hires have to come from outside the company and that is an MRA from the OCC or CFPB).
  2. Geography- If you are not in hub location (I think there are nine) you are definitely on a list (call HR and ask for the hub cities).
  3. Gender/ Non-Gender / Race - If you are not in a protected class and meet the two criteria above, you are likely on a list.
  4. If you work in PVSI you are likely on a list.

I have learned that Wells Fargo is a blight on your resume. I have heard it from many people.
