Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Termination Allowance

So myself and a few other coworkers were laid off a couple months ago in District 3 and have been getting the run-around from management and the union on how to get the termination allowance. Any advice? Thanks

Leave a VM at the Union office stating due to their inaction on your behalf you are retaining a lawyer and sending them the bill. You can also call the CWA district 3 office in Conyers, GA

Yes that's exactly what I'm referring to on page 123. Myself and others have been trying to collect the payment but keep running in circles. Payroll and management advise us to contact the union, but unfortunately nobody from the union will return our calls. Just looking for any advice. Thanks again!

Do you mean you were surplussed and you are trying to get severance pay? I am in the SE. Look in the contract book, it will tell you the exact amount depending on your years with T and what type of surplus it was(technological or economic) See pages 123 and 124 of the contract book.

Sorry, I don’t know the SE contract but get an answer before you’re off payroll or you’ll likely never see term pay. Ask your Local’s Union Secretary to reach out to their HR person for clarification. Frankly, I’m surprised your Local Secretary doesn’t know whether you qualify for it or not.

We are from the SE. I am referring to the employment termination allowance under article 8. I tried calling payroll and HR a few times and they said that my 1st or 2nd level needs to submit a form but of coarse they aren't replying to me and neither is the union...Thanks for your help

If you are in the MW, it’s in our contract under Termination Pay. My previous office closed so many people left the company and received term pay. However, I was too close to being pension eligible so I invoked Article 26 and was placed in another job locally. If you have a specific question after reviewing the contract, post it here and we will try to help. The company is shady about answering the specific questions because they don’t want to have to pay it if they can get you to not dot an i or cross a t. Good luck!
