I believe that for most people that are staying, they’re older folks (55+) who have decades in, are too old to be hired by other companies due to ageism. They are mostly L2 managers waiting for an MVO. Outside that, most everyone under 50 and less than 20 years, are looking (or perhaps should be. The vast majority are in the greater Dallas area, and though the economy is booming there, and lots of companies are hiring all over the metroplex, it takes time to absorb the thousands that want to leave (to a good job). Also, AT&T benefits and perks, are considerably nicer in comparison to most other companies. In addition, other companies are nowhere near as large as AT&T, so things are different, not to mention the general corporate environment to someone accustom to the AT&T way and has got to prepare themselves for some real adjustments, aka hesitate. If they’re not getting the surplus or outsource boot (or in area where most likely to happen) they can afford to bide their time.
Well said, @11pAK9uj-1obd.
