There have been MANY layoffs in wireless/ Mobility over the last several years as well. It is certainly no safe haven.

There's no one AT&T. There is a big difference depending on whether one works in wireless, or wireline. Even Elliot likes their wireless. Subsidiaries that have obsolete technologies like landline telephony, well, there will be force reductions in those subsidiaries.
@dkz IBM goes by the 2/80/20 rule. In 2 years offshore 80% of the work and keep 20% in the US.

It appears the employees outsourced to IBM seems to appear secure with there future. They seem to be under the impression their jobs will extend for the five year contract.
