Outsourcing Call

The call three days ago left me more confused if I am staying or going.

AT&T has been good to many people for years! They pay their managers well and you know that.

The hardest part is finding a job that will match your current pay.

It goes to show that a lot of us are overpaid and with great benefits.

The fact that they are giving a heads up is a good thing while many companies will say goodbye and take your computers and IDs all on the same day.

Appreciate the opportunity you were given for years.

Do not take anything for granted.

The people that you see on your way up are the same people you will see on your way down.

Bratislava to Accenture? Good for them.

Would you rather all of us not have a job? This is about financial decisions for the company.

If you were the CEO, you will likely do the same.

God bless us all.

Guessing the person that wrote this is probably at the point they can retire & leave with grace. I wish him/her well. But many others aren't so lucky. Many of us are several years from retirement & of an age where it'll be hard to find a job that'll pay enough to cover the family bills. When you're over 50 & your work is pretty specialized, it's not so easy to find a new job that pays what you need.

AT&T doesn't pay badly. I'll agree there. But they don't pay any better than other telecom-type companies. Same thing with benefits. Not bad but not amazing. I agree with the poster that I'm grateful to AT&T for my job. But the last couple years have been brutal with all the surplussing and downsizing. I'm sure it's taken it's toll emotionally (& maybe even physically) on many of us.

Overpaid? I don’t know what job you’re in but I’ve given this company and honest hard day’s work every day for 30 years and I don’t think it’s okay to farm our jobs out overseas to better other countries. Additionally, it’s a national security issue that so many Americans private info is accessible to foreign workers in other countries to sell to the highest bidder.

My manager was the lowest paid person on the crew. Many of us made more than the 2nd level.

Are you serious?? They are telling us that we might be retained AFTER we "knowledge transfer " to Accenture. Bunch of BS since our jobs are being outsourced. Oh and... update your competencies in Amplify which could help if someone is looking in Amplify to hire someone. What is right about AT&T screwing with lives like that? Giving people hope of a job. If you actually believe what you typed .. you're an a$$.

Why not ask the employees for concessions. Their loss of knowledge and continuity will cost far more than the savings.

Nope I would not do the same if I were the CFO. We are making more $ than we ever have..it is NOT a case of cutting some to save others. We are cutting some to make numbers look better for bonuses.

trust me...I am in Accounting and making these entries & generating the P &L's.
And we are not paying better than the market for the type of job I have..we are middle of the road in remuneration....so, I have given my notice & will be leaving this hot mess to you and yours.

“If you were the CEO, you will likely do the same.”

Nope, I wouldn’t.

I would offer folks the option to take the severance package & be let go.

I would offer folks the option to apply for internal positions for 60 days.

Even if outsourcing was inevitable, there were ways to handle this better.
