@2hls,
"The enterprise/wholesale ABFoPON orders and troubles will be going back to AFO company wide on 10/23"
I assume you mean its being taken away FROM AFO-TFS-Business Services(aka Specials) and being given to AFO-FO(aka I&M)? ...I know the acronyms get confusing...just making sure I understand correctly
The enterprise/wholesale ABFoPON orders and troubles will be going back to AFO company wide on 10/23. That decision was made in September and has already been communicated to the management teams by our VP on his call last month. That will remove 99% of the residential dispatches (about 35%-40% of all ABFoGPON jobs on average). Their can and will still be rare instances of folks running businesses out of their homes, but AFO-Business will only work those as retail after 10/23. Personally, I’m thankful for the additional work related to BVoIP 3-6 Line and ABFoGPON as without it, their wouldn’t be enough traditional designed service (DS0, DS1, DS3, SONET, 911, ADE, ASE) work to justify current headcount levels and that would just lead to the same surplus activity that nearly all other organizations are facing today. Is the BVoIP/ABFoGPON stuff fun to work on? Nope. It’s tedious, chaotic and technical support is almost non-existent, but it serves a purpose and keeps us competitive in the mid-market.
We welcome DEG to Business Services! We need some help with all the enterprise residential gpon orders!
They will figure it out after we merge and they start downsizing the crews!!! 😂
All you guys dumping on DEG better remember one thing, They all have high seniority and will probably be here to turn the lights out when your all gone. You ain't scaring any of them.
1jpi Don’t take it so hard, just remember for every pile of dog doo you see in the backyard there’s always two or three hidden with overgrown grass. Y’all learn how to navigate by sense of smell. Remember to cut out your bridge-tap and you’ll do fine.
Plenty of old splicers to put on the load after storms or during rainy seasons.
This is what the company wants. Techs fighting techs. Divide and conquer.
Free ride?? That’s a joke....chasing copper T-1 span trouble ??!!! Free ride???? Yeah we’ve seen how busy you guys are! Do you ever leave the garage??
DEG will be required to install bonded Uverse in residential and business and Gpon also. No more free rides in TFS. Get your ladder.
Create silos, develop processes to keep the silos separate, then add processes so that the silos can interact. Duplication of processes between silos. We can prove this works. We have the documentation for all of the processes.
Oh they will. Heard more managers getting trimmed soon. Some managers previously approved transfers were just cancelled....uh oh.
Hopefully they trim more management
You should really go look in Webphone before getting on here and posting. DEG is currently in ATO (Technology Operations) and will be merging with TFS-BS (Technical Field Services-Business Services) which is in Field Operations (AFO). Both are already under Jeff Mcelfresh at the top in AT&O (AT&T Technology and Operations). It gets quite confusing because of the multiple re-org’s in the last 5 years. To make it even more complicated, TFS-BS has been operating under the department name of “Field Operations - Business” or FOB for several months now. Regardless, come 10/3, the announcement will be made enterprise wide.
You meant AFO not ATO
DEG is moving to ATO business, not the same as TFS.
wow you must work for the union. They have no answers either
