We can say that it’s better just to leave and seek our fortunes elsewhere, but I don’t think that that’s realistic at all. The fact is that all of the competing companies are going through big changes and that they will not be likely to hire ex AT&T employees, especially the older folks, so, if somebody isn’t planning on changing the industry, it;s probably better to stay and to try to survive for the time being.

I love how in these people minds, all jobs are the same. All people at AT&T do the same thing. Everyone in the country works jobs on the cutting edge. No one works in dying industries. A job's a job. Everyone is different. According to BLS the median employee job lasts 4.3 years. Then people come on here saying their job s—s, they only been with AT&T 25 years. But the main complaint is they want to stay with the company another 15 years, but are afraid of being laid off. Really sounds like you hate it.
Other companies are totally different a than att. Att is toxic and people should run away from att and new college hires should go work where they have a normal environment and can actually learn skills that will help them. T’s definition of transform is totally different than the rest of the worlds. T is totally mis-managed and only want to keep yes men robots who think they are innovators in the tech field and know everything. The s— any fun and spirit out of people nothing like other companies.
We will continue with Worker turnover because of AT&T “toxic” office cultures has already cost the company billion in the past five years. Toxic work culture flourishes when companies don’t address workers concerns,That is why they do what they do, if in doubt look at the response old Stank gave reporters about selling DTV

I left ATT about 3 months ago, found a much better job in the healthcare industry.
Turns out they need people to put data in spreadsheets too.
Look around. Don’t think about your skills only from a tech/telecom perspective.

Reminds me of a friend that couldn't find a job as a COBAL programmer several years back, good grief if things didn't change we all be on horseback still. Change doesn't stop, what's the saying..only constant in life is change.

AT&T ....the careers of the past, Innovation at AT&T it is no from within.. Accenture, Techmantra, IBM just to name a few.. make up your own conclusions and don't get offended
